Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor IRWINDALE - Two probationers were caught Saturday after reportedly using bolt cutters to force their way into a closed business, police said.
Officers responded to a reported burglary in progress at 11:23 p.m. April 18 in the 5100 block of Irwindale Avenue. Both suspects ran from officers, but they were caught a short distance away, according to the Irwindale Police Department. In addition to the bolt cutters, the suspects used other tools, including two way radios to communicate with each other, police said. Anthony Celest Pena, a 19-year-old El Monte man, and Daniel Lozano, a 24-year-old Los Angeles man, were booked on suspicion of burglary, possession of burglary tools and probation violations. Both were booked in the West Covina jail. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, both subjects were later released on citations, pending their court appearances, Irwindale Police said. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor IRWINDALE - Search warrants were served in Pasadena December 19, leading to the arrest of two men accused of burglarizing an Irwindale home and stealing the victim’s vehicle. Robert Mendoza, a 19-year-old Pasadena man and Edward Virgen, a 19-year-old Altadena man, were arrested on suspicion of burglary, taking a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent and possession of stolen property, Irwindale Police said in a written statement. The suspects are accused of breaking in to a home in the 5100 block of North Allen Drive February 12, 2019. The home was ransacked: cash and more than $25,000 in property was taken along with the victim’s vehicle.
The stolen vehicle was later located in Downey, Irwindale Police said. A bulk of the taken cash was also recovered. Both subjects were booked at the West Covina City Jail, where they are each being held on $85,000.00 bail, Irwindale Police said. |
