IRWINDALE - The California Highway Patrol has shut down all southbound lanes of the 605 freeway north of Lower Azusa Road until further notice after a vehicle crashed into the center divider after a possible shooting. The CHP was called around 5:13 p.m. to investigate the crash of a white BMW into the center divider, according to Officer Elizabeth Kravig of the California Highway Patrol. Preliminary information from CHP radio traffic indicates that the vehicle was hit possibly twice, causing damage to the windshield. Officers are now combing the freeway to look for any possible bullet casings, But it is not clear exactly what could have hit the BMW. While Kravig understands that the crash may have resulted from a possible shooting, she has yet to confirm with officers in the field if a shooting did occur. There has been no confirmation on injuries. A vehicle possibly tied to this incident is a blue or black sedan. The Irwindale Police Department has been called to assist with blocking traffic from entering the on ramp at Lower Azusa Road. A tow truck has been requested to haul away the victims vehicle for evidence, according to California Highway Patrol radio traffic. The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators, according to Sgt. Rudy Gatto of the Irwindale Police Department. The investigation is underway on westbound Arrow Highway west of 4th Street. The collision was reported to Irwindale Police at 4:05 a.m., Gatto told SGV CityWatch. Eastbound Arrow Highway between Irwindale Avenue and Azusa Canyon Road will remain closed for possibly several more hours. Based on the evidence and witness accounts gathered at the scene, the pedestrian was struck in northbound lanes of Irwindale Avenue at the 210 freeway around 5:28 a.m February 9, according to Sgt. Rudy Gatto of the Irwindale Police Department. The driver of a grey 2015-2017 Ford F-150 Raptor fled the scene. The truck should have front end damage on the right side, Irwindale Police said. First responders found the male victim on the pavement. He suffered significant traumatic Injuries. Firefighters treated the victim at the scene before transporting him to a nearby trauma center. He later succumbed to his injuries, Gatto said. Firefighters were called by a passerby who reported seeing the man already down in lanes of traffic at 5:26 a.m. Traffic lanes on Irwindale Avenue at the 210 freeway were mostly closed for about six hours while members of the Irwindale Police Department’s Traffic Investigation Unit processed the scene with help from the Covina Police Department and Azusa Police Department. The victim’s personal belongings, including his shoes, were left strewn across the roadway. The crash occurred around 12:45 a.m. December 19. The motorcyclist reportedly hit the center divider where the roadway curves to meet Live Oak Avenue. The rider of a 2015 Harley Davidson died at the scene, according to the Irwindale Police Department. The roadway was closed for six hours Saturday morning during an investigation. Officers from Baldwin Park, Azusa and the Glendora police departments assisted with road closures. The cause of the collision is still under investigation. Officers were called to the scene at 7:42 a.m. A Sig Alert was issued at 8:15 a.m. for the on ramp. The Sig Alert was closed at 9:49 a.m., according to Officer Moises Marroquin of the California Highway Patrol. Marroquin did not have any more details surrounding the response to the initial call. Firefighters were dispatched to a cardiac arrest call at 7:43 a.m. at that location, but further details from the Los Angeles County Fire Department were not available. The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner will investigate the cause of death. The Irwindale Police Department announced westbound Arrow Highway at Gayhurst Avenue was closed at 6:58 p.m. without specifying the type of investigation. Westbound traffic is being diverted south on Gayhurst. At 5:39 p.m., firefighters were called to the area for a person in full arrest and determined the victim was dead on arrival, according to Dispatch Supervisor Art Marrujo of the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
It is unclear if the police response and the medical call are related. Marrujo did not know the possible cause of death. An Irwindale Police supervisor has yet to answer calls for details. The crash occurred on the northbound side of the freeway just south of Lower Azusa Road around 2:09 a.m. February 26. The No. 1 and 2 lanes were blocked for two hours, according to the California Highway Patrol. Debris was reportedly spread across all lanes, forcing CHP officers to temporarily close all northbound lanes.
Baldwin Park Police assisted the CHP by shutting down the northbound 605 freeway on ramp at Ramona Boulevard. The crash occurred in westbound lanes of East Live Oak Avenue at Stewart Avenue around 12:49 p.m. One person was declared dead on arrival, according to Marvin Lim, spokesman for the Los Angeles County Fire Department. Live Oak Avenue between Baldwin Park Boulevard and Commerce Drive remains closed during an investigation, according to the Irwindale Police Department. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor LOS ANGELES - A 23-year-old woman killed in a two-vehicle collision in Irwindale was identified Monday. Alexandra Molina was identified by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. She died of blunt head trauma and the manner of death was ruled accidental. The collision occurred at Rivergrade Road and Live Oak Avenue Saturday, June 1 around 4:22 p.m. A northbound 2014 Volkswagen sedan collided with a westbound 2018 Dodge Challenger. The driver of the sedan was ejected from the car, according to Sgt. Rudy Gatto of the Irwindale Police Department. The driver of the sedan, Molina, died at the scene. An on-duty California Highway Patrol officer was parked at a nearby Shell gas station. The officer was summoned by witnesses to the crash and arrived within seconds with Irwindale officers following shortly, Gatto said.
Both vehicles ended on the sidewalk of the northwest corner of Rivergrade and Live Oak. The adult driver and adult passenger in the Dodge Challenger were not hospitalized, Gatto said. The occupants of the Challenger are cooperating with investigators. Rivergrade Road from Stewart Avenue to Live Oak remained closed for six hours during the investigation. The crash was dispatched to firefighters at 4:25 p.m. June 1 in the 5100 block of Rivergrade Road. Firefighters declared one victim dead on arrival, according to Dispatch Supervisor Imogene McBride of the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
