Armed Suspect Search Underway in La Verne

LA VERNE - Residents are being asked to remain inside their homes and lock their doors and windows as a reported armed suspect apparently remains free in a La Verne neighborhood Sunday morning.

A search is underway extending from the area of Bonita Avenue and Damien Avenue, Palomares Avenue and Damien Avenue, Wheeler Avenue and Palomares and Wheeler and Bonita.

The suspect is described as a black man, wearing a white shirt, a white and black, horizontal, striped sweatshirt and dark pants, according to the La Verne Police Department.

It is not immediately clear why the suspect is being sought. It is also unclear exactly when this search began, but Laverne the fire department engines have been staged at Palomar is Avenue and Carrion Rpad since 6:38 a.m.
