​POLICE: Man with Machete, Meth Pipe, Caught with Stolen Mail in La Verne

LA VERNE - Police announced the arrest of a mail theft suspect hiding more than stolen mail February 19.

A vigilant resident saw the suspect, 26-year-old Sebastian Farnsworth of Adelanto, looking into mailboxes in the 6900 block of Sherwood Avenue around 6:50 p.m. Farnsworth was accompanied by another person, according to the La Verne Police Department.

Officers tracked down Farnsworth and detained him and the other person on Wheeler Avenue.

“Farnsworth ... informed Officers that he was concealing a 16-inch machete in his waistband as well as a meth pipe in his pocket,” La Verne Police said. “The subject also had in his possession a trash bag, containing mail addressed to residents of the 6900 block of Wheeler Ave.”

Surveillance video from a nearby residence and positive identification from a witness led to Farnsworth’s arrest and booking on theft, carrying a concealed dagger and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The case was presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, which filed felony charges against Farnsworth, La Verne Police said.

What became of the second person was not disclosed.
