The rider crashed on Highway 39 March 8 and was airlifted to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to Officer Kendricks of the California Highway Patrol. The crash occurred around 4:30 p.m. The rider was southbound on Highway 39 at mile marker 25.16 when the 2014 Yamaha WR250 left the roadway at a curve at an unknown speed. The rider was ejected when the motorcycle overturned, according to the CHP in a written statement. The U.S. Forest Service, Los Angeles County firefighters and a helicopter responded to Highway 39 near Morris Dam March 8 around 4:52 p.m. The rider has yet to be identified. The crash occurred around 2:36 a.m. in the intersection of Arrow Highway and Cerritos Avenue December 19. The driver and passengers of the second vehicle were taken to various hospitals, according to the Azusa Police Department. The cause of the crash is not publicly clear. Firefighters summoned four ambulances to the scene, according to Cpt. Norman Queen of the Los Angeles County Fire Department. Arrow Highway at Cerritos Avenue remains closed during the investigation. The rider was ejected from his motorcycle after crashing into multiple parked vehicles in the 900 block of West Sierra Madre Avenue October 27. The crash occurred around 6:52 p.m. The unidentified rider was declared dead at the scene, according to the Azusa Police Department. Danilo Gonzalez, 36, led officers on a very brief chase after he allegedly committed a vehicle code violation in the area of First Street and Cerritos Avenue around 3:37 a.m. July 16. The driver fled on foot after reportedly crashing into a parked vehicle, according to the Azusa Police Department. The crash occurred in the area Fondale Street and Cedarglen Drive. Gonzalez allegedly suffered what is believed to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound, possibly as he discarded the firearm, the Azusa Police Department said in a written statement. It is not clear Saturday night if he did in fact suffer a gunshot wound. The arrest and booking times, as well as the time Gonzalez was released, does not reflect any hospitalization duration. Gonzalez was reportedly issued a citation and release at 4:40 a.m. the morning of the pursuit, according to Los Angeles County booking records. Gonzalez was booked on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a firearm, evading arrest and several other weapons-related charges, the Azusa Police Department said. The crash occurred at North Azusa Avenue and East Gladstone Street just before 1:30 a.m. April 13. The Camaro’s driver allegedly ran a red light, struck a Cadillac Escalade and overturned the SUV, according to the Azusa Police Department. A man and woman in the Escalade fled the overturned vehicle on foot, Azusa Police told local news stations. The intersection is closed until further notice. Azusa police begin pursuing the driver of an Acura Integra after discovering the vehicle had been stolen. The pursuit began in the area of foothill Boulevard and San Gabriel Ave., according to Sgt. Jason Poulos of the Azusa Police Department. Police pursued the driver to the Covina/Glendora border where the crash occurred in the intersection of Barranca Avenue and Arrow Highway around 5:45 p.m. March 8. The Acura Integra collided with a Toyota Camry. The Integra then struck three other vehicles. Both suspects in the stolen Integra suffered major injuries, compounded by the fact that they were not wearing their seatbelts, according to the California Highway Patrol, which is investigating the collision aspect of the chase. The driver of the Camry suffered only minor injuries. Other people involved in the crash were able to walk away. Alcohol and or drugs may have played a factor, the California Highway Patrol said. Azusa Police is considering grand theft auto and felony evading charges. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor AZUSA - A known gang member was jailed Friday after fleeing a traffic stop and leading police on a chase that ended in multiple collisions with other motorists.
Ricardo Guzman, a 40-year-old Azusa man, allegedly refused to stop for officers just before 7 p.m. near Louise Avenue and Paramount Street February 12. Guzman reportedly struck another vehicle, but was able to still evade officers, according to the Azusa Police Department. Guzman continued to flee through the neighborhood streets and collided with a second motorist at Arrow Highway and Lark Ellen Avenue where he then fled on foot. He was quickly captured by officers, Azusa Police said. Police later found and seized narcotics from inside the pursuit vehicle. Guzman was booked on suspicion of felony evading, felony hit-and-run, misdemeanor hit-and-run and possession of illegal narcotics. He also had an outstanding no-bail parole warrant out for his arrest, Azusa police said. Guzman is currently being held at the Men’s Central Jail in Los Angeles ahead of a scheduled appearance at the West Covina courthouse February 16, according to Los Angeles County booking records. The crash occurred around 3:37 p.m. January 1 near 142 N. Azusa Ave. It appears the driver was northbound on Azusa Avenue and crashed into the occupied vehicle that was parked along the west curb line, according to Sgt. Brandon Bailey of the Azusa Police Department. “The other two people in a parked car have a minor injuries,” Bailey told SGV CityWatch. It is too early to tell what led to the crash, Bailey told SGV CityWatch. The driver, 37-year-old Christopher Smith, refused to yield for officers attempting a traffic stop for multiple vehicle code violations at First Street and Cerritos Avenue just after 3 p.m. July 3, according to the Azusa Police Department. The pursuit continued along surface streets where Smith allegedly hit another vehicle in the 100 block of North Cerritos Avenue. Smith crashed his vehicle on a residential lawn in the 500 block of North Azusa Avenue. Both Smith and passenger Trisha Mehta, from Anaheim, fled on foot, Azusa Police said. Smith was caught a short distance in the 400 block of North Alameda Avenue. He was booked on suspicion of felony evading, hit and run, resisting arrest and was also booked on a no-bail warrant. Mehta, 23, was booked on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance and providing false information to an officer. The innocent driver struck by Smith was uninjured, Azusa Police said. Officers responding to a shooting report found a condo unit in the 600 block of East Lee Place was damaged around 7:50 p.m., according to Sgt. Nick Covarrubias of the Azusa Police Department. Police were told of a white Kia seen fleeing the area. After locating and attempting to stop the driver, officers gave chase when the driver refused to stop, Covarrubias told SGV CityWatch. The suspects, including a juvenile, fled from Azusa and California Highway Patrol officers who attempted to stop them along surface streets and freeways in Azusa, Glendora, Baldwin Park, El Monte and San Dimas. The white sedan driven by one of the suspects crashed into another vehicle outside Target, 888 W. Arrow Hwy.
Two suspects ran from the Kia after it crashed and ran through the shopping center, but officers found them and detained them. Three others still occupying the vehicle were also detained, Covarrubias told SGV CityWatch. Two people inside the sedan that was hit, a woman and boy, were not seriously injured. The boy was hospitalized as a precaution, Covarrubias told SGV CityWatch. The suspect names were not readily available Tuesday morning, but among the charges the driver faces include felony evading and felony hit and run. Attempted murder will also be considered for the triggerman, Covarrubias told SGV CityWatch. It was not immediately clear if gang affiliations factored into the shooting. The white Kia was not registered to any of the suspects, Covarrubias told SGV CityWatch. |
