The collision occurred on Baldwin Park Boulevard at La Rica Avenue around 8:05 p.m. July 29. Two people inside of the vehicle that was wrapped around a tree died at the scene, according to Lt. David Leon of the Baldwin Park Police Department. An occupant of the second vehicle was apparently uninjured, Leon told SGV CityWatch. Leon did not immediately know what led to the crash. Wen-Dong Huang, a 58-year-old man, and Siying Wang, an 18-year-old woman, were found dead inside a home in the 3300 block of Athol Street last week. Exams have yet to be performed, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. Baldwin Park officers arrived to a report of domestic violence in the 3300 block of Athol Street and found the bodies. A third person was found severely injured and later hospitalized with injuries considered not life-threatening, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau.
Initially, homicide investigators said a woman was a suspect in the shooting. In a follow up report, investigators said a severely-injured person was also at the scene and later hospitalized. A pedestrian was found deceased about 100 yards west of Francisquito Avenue after having been struck under the I-10 freeway overpass by a San Bernardino-bound train, according to Paul Gonzales, Metrolink spokesman. The collision was reported just before 2:30 p.m. July 16. The collision occurred in a non-pedestrian area, Gonzales told SGV CityWatch. Train service resumed at 5:01 p.m., Gonzales told SGV CityWatch. No identification is available yet for the victim, who is only described as an adult male, according to Kristina McGuire of the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor BALDWIN PARK - Two men died Independence Day after the illegal fireworks they held prematurely detonated, police said. Both incidents occurred at 9 p.m. July 4. One man was fatally injured in the 3800 block of Athol Street. The second occurred in the 1800 block of Puente Avenue, according to the Baldwin Park Police Department in a written statement. Wilmer Josue Serrano, a 23-year-old Covina man, was fatally injured on Puente Avenue. Jorge Juarez, a 33-year-old Baldwin Park man, was fatally injured on Athol Street, according to Coroner Investigator Nani Cholakians of the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner.
It is unclear what specific type of fireworks led the deaths. “All types of fireworks hold a high risk of serious injuries, death, and fires. Only Safe & Sane fireworks are allowed in Baldwin Park. Please report all use of illegal fireworks,” Baldwin Park Police said. Autopsies have yet to be scheduled. |
