A dumpster fire reportedly spread to the building in the 4100 block of Maine Avenue February 27. Flames were seen through the roof. Three units in all were affected, according to Dispatch Supervisor Imogene McBride of the Los Angeles County Fire Department. A second-alarm was requested at 2:38 a.m. At 3:25 a.m., a third-alarm was requested. The fire was knocked down at 4:17 a.m., McBride told SGV CityWatch. The building housed medical offices. The fire burned at a home in the 14700 block of Clark Street around 8:55 p.m. January 10. Both women were found unresponsive inside the home and were declared dead at the scene, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. One woman was only described as being in her 50s, the other in her 80s. Investigators are unclear if the fire was intentional. Arson investigators are determining the fire’s cause. The fire is burning at 13443 Dalewood Street. Fire initially was heavily affecting two units on the property, but that was before firefighters at the scene requested a third-alarm response for additional personnel, according to Los Angeles County Fire Department radio traffic. There is a heavy fire presence, as well as a police presence in the area. Firefighters have asked the California highway patrol to close off the Baldwin Park Boulevard offramp from the eastbound I-10 freeway. The fire gutted the boarded-up restaurant, 3077 Baldwin Park Blvd. Firefighters were dispatched to the scene at 6:39 p.m. July 7, according to Los Angeles County Fire Department dispatch reports. Just before 7 p.m., a second alarm was dispatched, doubling units to the scene. One firefighter suffered a leg injury. Another suffered burns to a hand and required treatment at a burn center, according to Los Angeles County Fire Department radio traffic. 54 firefighters worked to knock down flames. It is not publicly clear what the cause of the fire is. Firefighters were dispatched to the call at 8 p.m. October 18, to 4181 Baldwin Park Blvd. Firefighters reportedly stuck a fire hose into the burning box to extinguish the flames and eventually used a chainsaw to cut the metal ballot receptacle open. The Baldwin Park Police Department took possession of the damaged ballots. It is unclear how many ballots were destroyed or damaged. Voters who used the drop box at the Baldwin Park Library can call the county registrar to verify their ballot was received: 562-503-2445, or email [email protected]. “The Registrar’s Office has acquired and is reviewing all material collected to determine the appropriate notifications to voters whose ballots may have been impacted and will ensure they can exercise their fundamental right to vote,” according to a statement from the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk. The fire burned in the 4500 block of Jerry Avenue at 10:30 p.m. April 25. A witness called police after seeing a substantial amount of smoke in the area. After locating the home, police ordered the occupants out, but they refused, according to Sgt. Gonzalez of the Baldwin Park Police Department. “The fire department showed up and they advised us they are not going to address the fire until we could address their safety, because of the subjects who weren’t coming out,” Gonzalez told SGV CityWatch.
The home is known to officers as a location frequented by gang members, Gonzalez told SGV CityWatch. While officers cleared the perimeter of the home, a neighbor said four people fled the rear of the home where the mattress burned, Gonzalez told SGV CityWatch. Those four occupants fled northeast from the house and did not return that night, Gonzalez told SGV City Watch. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire, which was likely accidental. The fire destroyed the carport at the complex, 13115 E. Amar Rd., around 8 a.m. February 9. No one was evacuated due to the carport’s distance from occupied apartment units. An unknown number of vehicle’s were damaged, according to Sgt. Shawn Blackburn of the Baldwin Park Police Department. The apartment complex is jammed into on odd corner of Amar Road, due to its placement near a flood control channel that empties into the San Gabriel River.
The fire was knocked down art 8:17 a.m., according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. Building and safety personnel were called to inspect the integrity of the structure, the Los Angeles County Fire Department said. The damaged carport was recommended to be red-tagged, said Blackburn, who does not believe the fire was suspicious in nature. The fire destroyed a one-story, single-family home in the 12700 block of Bess Avenue. Firefighters were dispatched to the home at 7:09 p.m. and arrived six minutes later. The fire was knocked down in about 15 minutes, said Inspector Joey Marron of the Los Angeles County Fire Department. A cause could not immediately be determined, so arson investigators were called to the scene. No injuries were reported. The American Red Cross was called to aid those displaced. |
