Ryan Milliner, 13, died from blunt force trauma. He was identified by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. His death was ruled accidental. The crash occurred around 1:43 p.m. on the eastbound I-10 freeway at the Francisquito Avenue off ramp. The driver of a 2008 International DuraStar flatbed tow truck failed to brake in time for stopped traffic in the No. 5 lane and rear ended a 2018 Toyota Corolla, which was pushed into a 2019 Kia Niro, according to the California Highway Patrol. The tow truck driver also slammed into a vehicle in the No. 4 lane: a 2018 Nissan Murano occupied by Milliner in the right rear seat, the CHP said.
The Nissan Murano was struck by a 2004 Dodge Ram truck after the former hit the center divider. A 2018 Lexus IS200T then struck the Murano, the CHP said. The Kia Niro rear-ended a 2008 Honda Odyssey and a 2006 Honda CRV, the latter rear-ended a 2000 Toyota Corolla. Milliner died at the scene. One driver suffered major blunt force trauma. Injuries to many others in the crash ranged from major to minor. Officers responding to a weapon brandishing call found an injured man fitting the description of an armed suspect at a 7-Eleven, 3705 Puente Ave., according to Sgt. Gonzales of the Baldwin Park Police Department. Officers responded at 8:25 p.m. May 10. The man did not have a weapon on him and no weapon was located, Gonzales told SGV CityWatch. The man suffered a three-to-four-inch laceration on the top side of one of his wrists and a similar laceration on his right bicep, Gonzales told SGV CityWatch. The man was uncooperative and would not disclose how he was injured. A suspect description was not given, Gonzales told SGV CityWatch. The man was taken to an area hospital. BALDWIN PARK - One person is dead in a multi-vehicle crash on the eastbound I-10 freeway at Francisquito Avenue Sunday, a CHP officer reported. The crash occurred near the Francisquito Avenue off ramp around 1:43 p.m. The No. 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 lanes are closed until possibly 3:30 p.m. The HOV is open, according to officer Stephan Brandt of the California Highway Patrol Traffic Management Center. There may have been as many as seven patients injured in the crash, as well as a child with a head laceration. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor BALDWIN PARK – A man found his way to the Baldwin Park Police Department after being attacked by two suspects Friday. The victim was sleeping in his vehicle when a male and female unknown to him began hitting his vehicle. He exited to confront the two when he was cut by the male. He received a laceration to the head, according to Sgt. Gonzalez of the Baldwin Park Police Department. The victim was attacked in a parking lot at Morgan Park, 4100 Baldwin Park Blvd., May 1 around 11:30 p.m. The female was armed with a skateboard and damaged his vehicle’s rear window, Gonzalez told SGV CityWatch.
The victim fled in his vehicle to a tire shop at Ramona Parkway and La Rica Avenue. He then ran to the Baldwin Park Police Station. “The victim showed up at the rear parking lot of the Baldwin Park Police Department. One of our officers was by his patrol vehicle. He told the officer he had been stabbed,” Gonzalez told SGV CityWatch. Both suspects could not be found. The victim was taken to Queen of the Valley Hospital in West Covina to treat a roughly-two-inch head laceration, Gonzalez told SGV CityWatch. The male was only described as wearing a grey shirt and black shorts. There was no description for the female with the skateboard. |
