The robbery took place at the Quicken gas station, 3660 Puente Ave., around 6:03 a.m. October 10. The suspect, described as either a white or Hispanic man, assaulted the clerk and fled the business, according to Lt. Chris Kuberry of the Baldwin Park Police Department. While the type of assault was not described in a written statement issued by Baldwin Park Police, radio traffic indicated the clerk may have been pepper-sprayed. The suspect fled in a dark vehicle. Police were made aware of social media posts stating a shooting would take place October 1 at Sierra Vista High School, 3600 Frazier St. The posts were seen the day prior, according to the Baldwin Park Police Department. “At this time it appears that this may not be a credible threat. However, the investigation is ongoing,” Baldwin Park Police said in a written statement. Detectives identified and interviewed the high school student accused of generating the threat September 30. Baldwin Park detectives will review the investigation. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office will determine of charges will be filed, Baldwin Park Police said. “As always student safety is and always will be our priority. I encourage students to be mindful of what they post on social media and the impact those posts may have on individuals and the community,” said Baldwin Park Police Chief Michael Taylor. |
