Moses Saul Vallecillo, 18, was charged with one count of attempted second-degree robbery, two counts of touching a person intimately against their will for sexual arousal, two counts of using a deadly weapon, and assault with a deadly weapon by force causing great bodily injury, according to Los Angeles Superior Court records. Vallecillo was arrested December 14 and arraigned in Pomona Superior Court four days later. Vallecillo allegedly grabbed his first victim from behind in an attempt to take her cellphone around 9 a.m. December 8. Four days later, he allegedly attacked a teen in the afternoon hours in the areas of the 3600 block of Vineland Avenue and the 3500 block of Ahern Drive. No other details about the second attack are publicly known. Baldwin Park Police Detectives, working with the department’s gang detectives and Baldwin Park Unified School District staff, arrested the suspect. A search warrant served at his home led to the seizure of evidence related the the attacks, according to the Baldwin Park Police Department. The first attack occurred Friday, December 8 around 9 a.m. in the 3900 block of Big Dalton Avenue. Police revealed Thursday that a second assault occurred Tuesday, December 12 around 4:30 p.m. in the areas of the 3600 block of Vineland Avenue and the 3500 block of Ahern Drive, according to the Baldwin Park Police Department. Investigators have yet to reveal details regarding the second attack. A short surveillance video was released showing the suspect walking through neighborhoods while hiding his face behind a black surgical mask and wearing a hooded sweatshirt. In the first reported attack, the suspect grabbed the girl from behind and attempted to take her cellphone. The attack occurred in the 3900 block of Big Dalton Avenue around 9 a.m. as the girl walked north from Central Avenue. The suspect grabbed the girl from behind and a struggle ensued, according to the Baldwin Park Police Department. During the struggle, the suspect pushed the girl up against a fence and then dragged her across the street, according to the Baldwin Park Police Department. “The victim broke free from the suspect and ran to a safe location. The suspect was seen on surveillance fleeing the location on foot,” according to the Baldwin Park Police Department in a written statement. The suspect was described as a male in his late teens. He stands about 5 feet 7 inches tall. He was seen in a gray hooded sweatshirt, dark gray sweatpants and black and white shoes. One or both suspects forced their way in through the side door to a home in the 4500 block of Maupin Avenue. The resident telephoned her family to call for police. One of the suspects took her phone away, according to the Baldwin Park Police Department. “The suspects then ransacked the home and left the location with several items from the residence. The suspects were mobile in a dark-colored SUV. At least one suspect used a handgun to threaten victims in all the crimes, authorities said. The as-of-yet unidentified suspects robbed at least three victims in Baldwin Park along Francisquito Avenue around Baldwin Park Boulevard, according to Sgt. Balzano of the Baldwin Park Police Department. In Baldwin Park, one robbery was reported at 9:14 p.m., a second at 9:43 p.m. and a third at 11:07 p.m. A handgun was used during the robberies. The suspects were able to get away with some stolen property, Balzano told SGV CityWatch, adding that he did not immediately know how many of the Baldwin Park robberies were successful. Investigators believe the same suspects attempted and failed to take a wallet from one victim at East Badillo Street and South First Avenue around 10:16 p.m., according to Sgt. Keith Sutherland of the Covina Police Department. At least one robbery attempt occurred in West Covina the same night. Multiple attempts to speak with a West Covina supervisor Thursday morning were unsuccessful. Baldwin Park officers located the suspects in the 3100 block of Syracuse Avenue and set a containment search with the help of a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s helicopter. After roughly two hours, the suspects were arrested, Balzano told SGV CityWatch. No victims in the Baldwin Park and Covina robberies were wounded. Officers with the department’s Gang Activity Prevention unit attempted a traffic stop March 18 in the 3700 block of Baldwin Park Boulevard around 5 p.m. A passenger in the vehicle fled on foot, box in hand, and the driver sped away, according to the Baldwin Park Police Department. The passenger who fled on foot, 20-year-old Alfonso Maya, was caught and found in possession of two firearms. The brief vehicle pursuit ended in a solo crash at Live Oak Avenue and Baldwin Park Boulevard when the suspect struck a traffic light, according to Sgt. Mike Hemenway of the Baldwin Park Police Department. A gun clip and ammunition were reportedly recovered from the crashed vehicle. The driver, 20-year-old Izaac Velasco, and another passenger were taken to County/USC Medical Center for treatment. Velasco was eventually taken into custody and booked on suspicion of felony evading causing injury and evading in opposing lanes of traffic, Hemenway told SGV CityWatch. Maya was booked on suspicion of felony possession of a firearm, Hemenway told SGV CityWatch. Maya is being held without bail at the Men’s Central Jail ahead of a scheduled appearance in Rio Hondo Municipal Court March 22. Velasco apparently remains hospitalized. His bail is set at $75,000, according to Los Angeles County booking records. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor BALDWIN PARK - A 21-year-old man and two teens were arrested after the attempted to rob another teen at gunpoint, a Baldwin Park Police sergeant said. The robbery attempt occurred around 2:58 p.m. in the 400 block of Filhurst March 22. The three suspects escaped on foot after failing to take any property and were found and detained by officers, according to Sgt. Gonzalez of the Baldwin Park Police Department. Officers located the handgun used in the robbery attempt, Gonzalez said. The victim reportedly called his mother who drove to the area. She was tracking the suspects while talking with dispatchers when she struck one of the fleeing teens, Gonzalez said. Whether the collision was intentional or accidental, Gonzalez did not know. The teen was hospitalized with undisclosed injuries.
The adult suspect was identified as 21-year-old Brian Paul. He was booked on suspicion of robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, possessing a loaded firearm in a public place, possession of a high-capacity magazine, conspiracy to commit a crime, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, Gonzalez said. Paul is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail ahead of a scheduled apeparance in court March 24. The teen suspects were released to their parents, Gonzalez said. The robbery occurred at Jay’s Market, 13414 Ramona Blvd., around 9:15 p.m. September 13. No one was injured during the robbery, according to Sgt. Joe Meister of the Baldwin Park Police Department.
The suspect was described as wearing a black ski mask, red jacket and brown pants. He was last seen fleeing southbound on Foster Avenue. The robbery occurred at 7:30 p.m. at MetroPCS, 14461 Merced Ave., December 18. The suspects entered the store and took the phones by show of force, according to Lt. Mark Adams of the Baldwin Park Police Department. A black semi-automatic handgun gun was used, according to a Baldwin Park Police crime broadcast. The armed suspect is a Hispanic man in his early 20s and is 5 feet 6 inches tall with a thin build. He wore a red and green beanie, grey hoodie and black jeans. The second suspect is a Hispanic man, 18 to 19 years old, 5 feet 8 inches tall and has a medium build. He wore a grey hoodie and brown khaki pants. Both suspects were seen fleeing on foot, Adams said. The robbery took place at the Quicken gas station, 3660 Puente Ave., around 6:03 a.m. October 10. The suspect, described as either a white or Hispanic man, assaulted the clerk and fled the business, according to Lt. Chris Kuberry of the Baldwin Park Police Department. While the type of assault was not described in a written statement issued by Baldwin Park Police, radio traffic indicated the clerk may have been pepper-sprayed. The suspect fled in a dark vehicle. |
