Brandon Nagata , a 31-year-old Glendora man, was booked on suspicion of felony assault with a deadly weapon other than a firearm on a peace officer, felony evading and driving on a suspended license, according to Officer Rodrigo Jimenez of the California Highway Patrol Baldwin Park office. Nagata was allegedly speeding westbound on the 60 freeway west of Grand Avenue around 1:08 a.m. Nagato refused to stop for officers and invaded police on the freeway, in excess of 120 mph and on surface streets at 80 miles per hour, Jimenez told SGV CityWatch. The driver, later identified as Nagata, into a dead end on Stimson Avenue north of Valley Boulevard in city of industry. CHP officers use their patrol vehicles to box in Nagata into a chain link fence, Jimenez told SGV CityWatch. Nagata posted bond, according to Los Angeles County booking records. He is scheduled to appear in court February 4. Fabian Jamies Davalos, 21, allegedly crashed at an unsafe speed into the rear of a semi that slowed down for traffic on the westbound I-10 freeway west of Pacific Avenue August 28. The passenger was ejected in the crash and died at the scene, according to the California Highway Patrol. The passenger was identified as 19-year-old Dayanna Tamayo. She died from blunt force head trauma, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. The crash occurred around 3 a.m. The driver of a 2021 International A26 was in the No. 4 and began slowing for traffic due to a temporary construction closure affecting the HOV, No. 1 and 2 lanes of the I-10 freeway. Jamies Davalos, in a 2016 Honda Accord, slammed into the back of the International A26, according to the CHP. Jamies Davalos was treated for minor injuries at County/USC Medical Center. The semi’s driver was uninjured. A Sig Alert, issued at 3:41 a.m., affected the HOV, No. 1, 2, 3 and 4 lanes of traffic until 6:15 a.m. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor BALDWIN PARK - The California Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal collision Saturday that involved a semi trailer on the eastbound I-10 freeway just west of Pacific Avenue.
The collision occurred around 3 a.m. August 28. As officers arrived, they found one person had extricated themselves from the smashed vehicle. This person was found and tended to in the No. 1 lane of traffic, according to the California Highway Patrol. The person who extricated themselves was taken to County USC medical center. One other person died at the scene, the California Highway Patrol said. A Sig Alert for the No. 1, 2, 3 and 4 lanes of the eastbound I-10 freeway was requested at 3:39 a.m. The semi and trailer that was crashed into was hauling an estimate and 35,000 to 40,000 pounds of boxes and linen, the California Highway Patrol said. Sandy Rocha, 36, died at the scene of the crash on the westbound I-10 freeway at Frazier Street. The collision occurred around 4:15 a.m. Rocha allegedly was speeding before the crash, according to the California Highway Patrol. Rocha drove a 2011 Hyundai. Rocha’s Hyundai became lodged under the rear of the tractor trailer after the crash. The driver of the 2013 Freightliner was uninjured, the CHP said. All westbound lanes were temporarily closed around 4:22 a.m. and by 4:26 a.m., the HOV and No. 1 lane were opened, according to CHP traffic logs. The crash occurred at Olive Street and Baldwin Park Blvd., December 30. Firefighters were dispatched at 6:49 p.m. The rider was reported dead at 6:56 p.m., according to Dispatch Supervisor Miguel Ornelas of the Los Angeles County Fire Department. The motorcyclist was traveling likely at a high rate of speed on Olive Street when the motorcycle collided with a Dodge Durango that was about to make a left turn, according to Sgt. Gonzalez of the Baldwin Park Police Department. Gonzalez described the rider as a 41-year-old Asian man. The driver of the Durango was uninjured, Gonzalez told SGV CityWatch. Officers and firefighters responded to the 1800 block of Puente Avenue around 1:45 a.m. The woman was laying on the asphalt and likely was pushing a cart when struck, according to the Baldwin Park Police Department. Personal property was strewn across the roadway. The vehicle that hit the woman reportedly fled the scene. The woman is currently listed as a Jane Doe, according to Investigator Kelsie Weber of the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. It is unclear if the driver, or vehicle has been identified. Anyone with information on this incident is urged to call Baldwin Park Police at 626-960-1955. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor BALDWIN PARK - An unlicensed teen with a no-bail warrant was arrested, along with his mother, after the teen crashed during a joyride and attempted to stow away in a second vehicle after his mother arrived to the scene.
The crash occurred in the 4000 block of Center Street October 24 around 12:11 p.m. The owner of the vehicle the suspect crashed into tracked down the suspect’s abandoned car after he drove from the crime scene. “We saw it happen. Fortunately, the car was parked in front of our house,” according to the owner of the vehicle the suspect crashed into. She asked her name not be published. Police arrived one street east to find the suspect vehicle stopped, according to Sgt. Gonzalez of the Baldwin Park Police Department. “We jumped in my mom's car and took off to follow the driver. I found the car abandoned one street over and called it in. BPPD showed up. A lady showed up in another vehicle and began emptying the suspect car,” the vehicle owner told SGV CityWatch Editor. The other woman turned out to be the teen suspect’s mother, Gonzalez told SGV CityWatch. “The mother arrived to the scene and she was trying to retrieve items from the crashed vehicle. The officer checked the vehicle she arrived in and found the juvenile hiding in there,” Gonzalez told SGV CityWatch. The teen had a no-bail arrest warrant and was taken into custody. He was taken to a Los Angeles juvenile detention facility, Gonzalez told SGV CityWatch. The mother was arrested and booked on suspicion of obstructing or delaying an officer, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and harboring a fugitive, Gonzalez told SGV CityWatch. No one was injured in the crash. The collision occurred on Baldwin Park Boulevard at La Rica Avenue around 8:05 p.m. July 29. Two people inside of the vehicle that was wrapped around a tree died at the scene, according to Lt. David Leon of the Baldwin Park Police Department. An occupant of the second vehicle was apparently uninjured, Leon told SGV CityWatch. Leon did not immediately know what led to the crash. Ryan Milliner, 13, died from blunt force trauma. He was identified by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. His death was ruled accidental. The crash occurred around 1:43 p.m. on the eastbound I-10 freeway at the Francisquito Avenue off ramp. The driver of a 2008 International DuraStar flatbed tow truck failed to brake in time for stopped traffic in the No. 5 lane and rear ended a 2018 Toyota Corolla, which was pushed into a 2019 Kia Niro, according to the California Highway Patrol. The tow truck driver also slammed into a vehicle in the No. 4 lane: a 2018 Nissan Murano occupied by Milliner in the right rear seat, the CHP said.
The Nissan Murano was struck by a 2004 Dodge Ram truck after the former hit the center divider. A 2018 Lexus IS200T then struck the Murano, the CHP said. The Kia Niro rear-ended a 2008 Honda Odyssey and a 2006 Honda CRV, the latter rear-ended a 2000 Toyota Corolla. Milliner died at the scene. One driver suffered major blunt force trauma. Injuries to many others in the crash ranged from major to minor. BALDWIN PARK - One person is dead in a multi-vehicle crash on the eastbound I-10 freeway at Francisquito Avenue Sunday, a CHP officer reported. The crash occurred near the Francisquito Avenue off ramp around 1:43 p.m. The No. 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 lanes are closed until possibly 3:30 p.m. The HOV is open, according to officer Stephan Brandt of the California Highway Patrol Traffic Management Center. There may have been as many as seven patients injured in the crash, as well as a child with a head laceration. |
