Early reports from Los Angeles County firefighters report one person was trapped inside the overturned truck. Minutes later, firefighters declared the victim dead at the scene. The crash was dispatched to the California Highway Patrol at 5:16 p.m. Several other vehicles were involved. A Sig Alert has been issued for an unknown duration for the off ramp, the CHP said. The fire destroyed the carport at the complex, 13115 E. Amar Rd., around 8 a.m. February 9. No one was evacuated due to the carport’s distance from occupied apartment units. An unknown number of vehicle’s were damaged, according to Sgt. Shawn Blackburn of the Baldwin Park Police Department. The apartment complex is jammed into on odd corner of Amar Road, due to its placement near a flood control channel that empties into the San Gabriel River.
The fire was knocked down art 8:17 a.m., according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. Building and safety personnel were called to inspect the integrity of the structure, the Los Angeles County Fire Department said. The damaged carport was recommended to be red-tagged, said Blackburn, who does not believe the fire was suspicious in nature. The collision was reported around 7:45 p.m. to firefighters at Main and Foster avenues. The person killed was found around 8 p.m., quite a distance away from where the train stopped, according to Dispatch Supervisor Ed Pickett of the Los Angeles County Fire Department. The pedestrian was apparently struck away from a crossing, according to Metrolink officials. The collision impacted service on train No. 372 bound for San Bernardino. No other injuries were reported. The 50-year-old son and 73-year-old mother were found dead inside the home by responding Baldwin Park officers after being initially called for a medical response to the 3900 block of Kenmore Avenue, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. Detectives are not looking for a suspect and it is unknown if the deaths are criminal in nature. Relatives inside the home called firefighters after finding the 50-year-old victim unresponsive around 4:42 a.m. Firefighters were dispatched to a cardiac arrest call at the home, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. Officers found the dead mother in a separate room. “Neither victim appeared to suffer any traumatic injury,” according to Deputy Trina Schrader of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. Firefighters were dispatched at 10:05 a.m. to the 4600 block of Maine Avenue near Cavette Place August 10, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. Patient care was transferred to tactical medics with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Special Enforcement Bureau, which flew the patient to a local trauma center. Police responded to the San Gabriel Riverbed south of the I-10 freeway and west of the 605 freeway around 7 p.m. While police took a grand theft report, they are still trying to determine if the equipment was either lost or burned in the brush fire, said. Lt. Mark Adams of the Baldwin Park Police Department. What specifically was stolen was not immediately known. The brush fire burned five acres of vegetation in the San Gabriel River. Initially dispatched to firefighters at 12:36 p.m., the fire grew rapidly, forcing firefighters to initiate a first-alarm brush fire response, complete with helicopters. The fire, which was dispatched at 12:36 p.m., was first reported at one-half acres in light grass, but the fire’s progression increased despite additional resources arriving at the initial firefight, according to Los Angeles County Fire Department radio traffic. The fire is burning in the San Gabriel Riverbed and has been designated as a first-alarm brush fire. Three firefighting helicopters are en route to assist. The three children reportedly suffered critical injuries in the crash between a dark sedan and a white sedan, which overturned, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department and CHP. The collision was reported in the HOV lane around 7 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol. At least one other occupant was critically injured, while a fifth received minor injuries. The toy, which resembles a real landmine, was discovered near a donut shop in the 3700 block of Baldwin Park Boulevard around 11:20 a.m. according to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Arson/Explosives Detective Miller and Los Angeles County Fire Inspector David Michael. Firefighters were called to the scene around 11:20 a.m. along with the Los Angeles County Fire Department Hazardous Material’s Division, Michael said. Firefighters located a static package and, with the help of Baldwin Park Police, secured a perimeter and people nearby sheltered in place, Michael said. Arson/Explosives technicians inspected the device on scene and determined it was merely an airsoft toy, Miller said. The Baldwin Park Police Department watch commander was unavailable to answer calls. Firefighters cleared the scene at 1:04 p.m. |
