Police responded to a shooting early Wednesday morning at Puente Avenue and Merced Avenue and located the wounded woman. She was treated at the scene by the Los Angeles County Fire Department and then taken to a hospital, according to the Baldwin Park Police Department. The gunman and any possible additional suspects fled the area before officers arrived, Baldwin Park Police said. The fire gutted the boarded-up restaurant, 3077 Baldwin Park Blvd. Firefighters were dispatched to the scene at 6:39 p.m. July 7, according to Los Angeles County Fire Department dispatch reports. Just before 7 p.m., a second alarm was dispatched, doubling units to the scene. One firefighter suffered a leg injury. Another suffered burns to a hand and required treatment at a burn center, according to Los Angeles County Fire Department radio traffic. 54 firefighters worked to knock down flames. It is not publicly clear what the cause of the fire is. The crash occurred at Olive Street and Baldwin Park Blvd., December 30. Firefighters were dispatched at 6:49 p.m. The rider was reported dead at 6:56 p.m., according to Dispatch Supervisor Miguel Ornelas of the Los Angeles County Fire Department. The motorcyclist was traveling likely at a high rate of speed on Olive Street when the motorcycle collided with a Dodge Durango that was about to make a left turn, according to Sgt. Gonzalez of the Baldwin Park Police Department. Gonzalez described the rider as a 41-year-old Asian man. The driver of the Durango was uninjured, Gonzalez told SGV CityWatch. Firefighters were dispatched to the call at 8 p.m. October 18, to 4181 Baldwin Park Blvd. Firefighters reportedly stuck a fire hose into the burning box to extinguish the flames and eventually used a chainsaw to cut the metal ballot receptacle open. The Baldwin Park Police Department took possession of the damaged ballots. It is unclear how many ballots were destroyed or damaged. Voters who used the drop box at the Baldwin Park Library can call the county registrar to verify their ballot was received: 562-503-2445, or email vbmdropoff@rrcc.lacounty.gov. “The Registrar’s Office has acquired and is reviewing all material collected to determine the appropriate notifications to voters whose ballots may have been impacted and will ensure they can exercise their fundamental right to vote,” according to a statement from the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk. The fire burned in the 4500 block of Jerry Avenue at 10:30 p.m. April 25. A witness called police after seeing a substantial amount of smoke in the area. After locating the home, police ordered the occupants out, but they refused, according to Sgt. Gonzalez of the Baldwin Park Police Department. “The fire department showed up and they advised us they are not going to address the fire until we could address their safety, because of the subjects who weren’t coming out,” Gonzalez told SGV CityWatch.
The home is known to officers as a location frequented by gang members, Gonzalez told SGV CityWatch. While officers cleared the perimeter of the home, a neighbor said four people fled the rear of the home where the mattress burned, Gonzalez told SGV CityWatch. Those four occupants fled northeast from the house and did not return that night, Gonzalez told SGV City Watch. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire, which was likely accidental. Susie Drake, 73, and Joseph Drake, 50, died from acute fentanyl and morphine toxicity, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. Their deaths were ruled accidental. The mother and son were found dead inside the home by responding Baldwin Park officers after officers were initially called for a medical response to the 3900 block of Kenmore Avenue December 4, 2018, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. Relatives inside the home called firefighters after finding Joseph unresponsive around 4:42 a.m. Firefighters were dispatched to a cardiac arrest call at the home, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. Officers found the dead mother in a separate room. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor BALDWIN PARK – Inspectors are checking the stability of a railroad bridge after a fire possibly caused an unknown amount of damage Tuesday. The fire burned near the bridge behind a UPS Customer Center in the 1100 block of Baldwin Park Boulevard just after 5 a.m. October 29, according to Inspector Sean Rios of the Los Angeles County Fire Department. It was initially believed that a possible transient fire could have grown out of control, Rios said.
No injuries were reported, Rios said. Metrolink trains 303, 305, 307, 309, 311 and 313 are stopped with major delays after authorities closed the tracks. according to Paul Gonzales, Metrolink spokesman. Train 302 is cancelled. Bus bridges are being provided to stranded passengers, Gonzales said. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor BALDWIN PARK - A driver whose vehicle got a little too close to the railroad tracks was uninjured after a passenger train hit her vehicle Monday night. The collision occurred on Francisquito Avenue on the railroad tracks near Paddy Lane just before 9:30 p.m. October 7. The driver’s vehicle sustained minor to moderate damage, according to Sgt. Andrew Velebil of the Baldwin Park Police Department. The train took off the front bumper as it passed by. The driver was still in the vehicle when the train hit, Velebil said. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor BALDWIN PARK - About five hours after a two-inch gas main was ruptured, residents were able to return home July 18. The gas main was ruptured in the area of East Olive Street and Edra Avenue around 2:18 p.m. Firefighters were dispatched at 2:20 p.m. No one was injured or hospitalized, according to Dispatch Supervisor Miguel Ornelas of the Los Angeles County Fire Department. Police evacuated Olive Street residents from Baldwin Park Boulevard to Stewart Avenue and evacuated some homes south of Olive on Edra Avenue. A temporary shelter was set up at nearby Holland Middle School, according to the Baldwin Park Police Department.
Firefighters sprayed a continuous stream of water on the spewing natural gas leak to prevent fire. Southern California Gas workers sealed the leak and by 7:15 p.m., residents were allowed back to their homes, Baldwin Park Police said.
