Written by AARON CASTREJON | CityWatch Editor BALDWIN PARK - A press conference will be held at 11 a.m. regarding the July 10 hit-and-run death that left a Riverside motorcyclist dead. Daniel Gutierrez, 39, died at Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center after being hit in a multi-vehicle crash on the eastbound 60 freeway at Grand Avenue. A red, older-model Freightliner that reportedly initiated the collision fled the scene and exited at Grand Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The Corolla’s driver, a 25-year-old Pomona woman, accelerated to get out from between the two freightliners. The Corolla caught the front bumper of the red freightliner and veered across traffic lanes, striking the center divider, the CHP said.
The Corolla bounced back into traffic lanes, striking Gutierrez and his motorcycle in the No. 1 lane, the CHP said. Arriving CHP officers found Gutierrez inside the detached rear bumper of the Toyota. The press conference will be held at the CHP Baldwin Park Office, 14039 Franciscquito Avenue. |
