Written by AARON CASTREJON | CityWatch Editor BALDWIN PARK - An 18-year-old driver and a 16 and 17-year-old boy were arrested Saturday night after leading officers on high-speed pursuit.
A stolen handgun was also located inside the vehicle after the suspects stopped and surrendered to California Highway Patrol officers on the westbound 101 freeway in Agoura Hills at Reyes Adobe Road, according to Sgt. Jorge Huerta of the Baldwin Park Police Department. The pursuit began around 8:36 p.m. when the driver refused to stop for officers after committing a moving violation, Huerta said. During the beginning of the pursuit, Baldwin Park officers discovered the vehicle was stolen. The pursuit entered the northbound 605 freeway from northbound Los Angeles Street and then west on the 210 freeway. Officers cancelled the pursuit on the west 134 freeway at Lankershim Boulevard, Huerta said. The distance from Baldwin Park made radio communication difficult. As CHP officers were attempting to catch up to the driver, the stolen vehicle sideswiped a motorcyclist west on the 101 freeway. The rider briefly chased the driver during the pursuit. The 18-year-old driver was booked at the Baldwin Park jail. The 16-year-old boy was released to his parents, while the 17-year-old was taken to Los Padrinos Juvenile Hall in Downey. |
