Written by AARON CASTREJON | CityWatch ALHAMBRA - A package thief was caught on camera June 22 taking a brown package from a residence and police need help in finding the suspect.
The package was taken last Friday in the 300 block of North Monterey Street around 3 p.m. from an apartment complex. The suspect was questioned by a resident and said he was looking for someone, Alhambra Police said. The suspect left the apartment complex, but returned and took the package. He was last seen fleeing south on Monterey Street. The suspect is a Hispanic man, bald, has tattoos on his neck, arms and was wearing black clothing. Anyone with information on the suspect is urged to call the Alhambra Police Tip line at 626-308-4875. Callers can remain anonymous. The theft occurred in the 1100 block of South Cordova around 2:53 p.m. A woman exited the passenger side of a car that parked outside the victim’s house. The woman approached the home and took several packages, Alhambra Police said. The second suspect remained in the car and could not be seen.

Written by AARON CASTREJON | CityWatch Editor ALHAMBRA - The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office filed one felony count of child abuse Thursday against the woman who ran errands and ate lunch while she left a child in a 120-degree vehicle, the District Attorney's Office said.
Alhambra woman Helen Siuhung Law, 60, was jailed June 12 for leaving a 6-year-old boy in the SUV parked in the 700 block of Valley Boulevard for two hours. Alhambra Police officers arrived to the scene and found the child after being called by a passerby. The child was sweating profusely and crying, Alhambra Police said. As police investigated the incident, Siuhung approached the SUV and said she was his babysitter, Alhambra Police said. The child was taken to an area hospital for treatment. Siuhung was jailed and held in lieu of $100,000 bail, but posted bond Thursday morning, according to Los Angeles County booking records. Written by AARON CASTREJON | CityWatch Editor ALHAMBRA - Officers rendered aid to a distressed 6-year-old boy found sweating profusely and crying in a SUV Tuesday afternoon. The babysitter, 60-year-old Helen Siuhung Law of Alhambra, reportedly left the child in the SUV for two hours while she ran errands and ate at a nearby restaurant. The inside temperature of the SUV was more than 120 degrees, Alhambra Police said.
Law was booked on suspicion of felony child endangerment and is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail. She is set to appear in Alhambra Municipal Court June 14.
