The pedestrian, described as a 60 to 65-year-old woman, was hit around 2:13 p.m. at the intersection of Garfield Avenue and San Marino Avenue April 11. A driver made a left turn from westbound San Marino Avenue to southbound Garfield Avenue and struck the pedestrian who suffered major injuries, according to the Alhambra Police Department. The woman was transported to a hospital and later died. The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with traffic investigators. Any witnesses to this collision, or anyone who may have additional information is urged to call the Alhambra Police Department Traffic Section at 626-570-5119.

ALHAMBRA – A man suspected of driving under the influence was pulled from his burning vehicle after a crash October 20.
First responders arrived to the 700 block of North Atlantic Avenue around 2 a.m. Thursday and found the vehicle already on fire. Officers pulled the driver out of the vehicle and walked him to safety, according to the Alhambra Police Department.
“The driver of the vehicle showed symptoms of being under the influence of alcohol. He was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. A blood sample was obtained from the driver and this case will ultimately be presented to the LA District Attorney’s Office for review of DUI charges,” according to the Alhambra Police Department in a written statement. One officer was treated and released for smoke inhalation. Police and firefighters responded to Chengu Taste, 828 W. Valley Blvd., around 1:26 p.m. November 18. Three victims were transported to a local trauma center with serious injuries and three other victims were transported to local hospitals with minor injuries, according to the Alhambra Police Department. The driver, who remained at the scene and is speaking to investigators, allegedly attempted a left turn onto eastbound Valley Boulevard and mistook the gas pedal for the breaks, according to the Alhambra Police Department. Valley Boulevard between Atlantic Boulevard and South Seventh Street will be closed for several hours, according to the Alhambra Police Department. Officers responded to multiple 9-1-1 call of the collision in the 2200 block of Larch Street around 10:38 a.m. They found the child suffering major injuries, according to the Alhambra Police Department. The girl was given first aid by Alhambra police officers and firefighters. The latter transported the child to a nearby hospital where she died. The child’s parents were in the area when the collision occurred. “During the initial investigation, officers learned that the child had been struck by a vehicle in the driveway of a condominium complex. The driver of the car remained on the scene and is cooperating with traffic investigators. Traffic investigators with the Alhambra Police Department are handling the case. Police found the wounded male in the 1100 block of N. Garfield Ave. around 10:09 p.m. July 10. Officers performed CPR until Alhambra Fire Department medics arrived to take over care, according to the Alhambra Police Department. Investigators have yet to reveal the age range of the victim. Officers were originally dispatched to the 1100 block of N. Garfield Ave. to investigate a report of shots fired, Alhambra Police said. Jinlan Wang, 68, an Alhambra resident, was identified by Sarah Ardalani, public information officer for the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. The cause of death has not been determined yet. An exam is still pending, Ardalani told SGV CityWatch. Officers were called to the park, 800 S. Almansor St., September 15 and found the body of a woman. Police do not suspect foul play. “It is not believed there is anyone of interest at this point,” according to the Alhambra Police Department. Officers responded to the collision at 7:50 AM April 25. Paramedics assisted the pedestrian who died at the scene, According to Sergeant Steven Carr of the Alhambra Police Department. The driver who struck the pedestrian remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators, Alhambra Police said. “The driver and several witnesses stated that the pedestrian stepped off of the east Garfield Avenue curb without yielding to northbound traffic when he was struck,” Carr said an a written statement. The pedestrian has not been identified yet and was only described as an Alhambra resident in his 40s, Carr said. Alcohol and drugs are not suspected factors in the crash, Carr said. A man and woman were found suffering gunshot wounds in the 400 block of North Second Street around 7:13 p.m. Alhambra Firefighters worked to aid the victims, but they died at the scene. Their deaths were pronounced at 7:26 p.m., according to Alhambra Police radio traffic. An officer searching the area located and detained a person claiming to be the gunman. He reportedly told officers where to find the weapon used in the killing, according to Alhambra Police radio traffic. With the aid of a helicopter equipped with an infrared camera, a handgun was found near the crime scene. The suspect also spoke of a discarded and loaded gun clip, but it is not immediately known if it was found. The relation between the suspect and the dead victims has yet to be disclosed, as well as a motive. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor ALHAMBRA - The cause of a fire that destroyed three attached garages and left three apartment units uninhabitable is being investigated. The fire burned at 777 E. Valley Blvd. September 22. Firefighters were dispatched at 5:44 p.m. Firefighters immediately began attacking the fire while other firefighters began checking apartment units for extension of flames, according to Battalion Chief Doug Shonkwiler of the Alhambra Fire Department.
The fire was knocked down in about 30 minutes, Shonkwiler said. There was only minimal extension into an apartment unit. Several people at the scene were treated for lightheadedness. Shonkwiler did not know yet a dollar amount in damage to the structures and contents. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor ALHAMBRA - One person had to be cut from the twisted mess of an SUV left mangled at the end of a violent crash early Tuesday. The person extricated as well as a second person were both hospitalized. The two are believed to be tied to a shooting in Los Angeles that occurred minutes before the crash. The SUV collided at Valley Boulevard and Cabrillo just before 2 a.m. July 16, according to Alhambra Police.
Alhambra firefighters spent one hour cutting the trapped person from the SUV, Alhambra Police said. The circumstances regarding the shooting are unknown. |
