CityWatch Editor ALHAMBRA - A pursuit ended in a major crash that killed one person being pursued in an SUV and a police officer Thursday. It is not immediately clear why police were pursuing an SUV, but the collision at West Valley Boulevard and Edgewood Drive caused major damage to the SUV and an Alhambra Police patrol SUV. The crash occurred around 3:07 a.m. November 20. Officer Alec Saunders, 28, was just eight months in to his service with the Alhambra Police Department. Saunders was reportedly found not breathing when fellow officers reached him in the damaged police SUV. There were three people in the suspect SUV. One occupant was ejected and died at the scene. CityWatch Editor ALHAMBRA - Police shot and killed a reported suicidal man who allegedly charged at them with a knife Saturday. The shooting occurred in the 1200 block of South Almansor Avenue January 18. Police originally responded around 11:18 a.m. to a call of a suicidal man, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. The man emerged from nearby, a knife in hand and advanced toward Alhambra Police officers. “Officers gave commands for the suspect to drop the knife. The suspect did not comply with the officers commands and continued to advance toward the officers in an aggressive manner when an officer-involved shooting occurred,” according to the Sheriff’s Department in a written statement. The man was struck multiple times. He was taken to a hospital where he died. Investigators recovered a large knife at the scene. CityWatch Editor ALHAMBRA - Detectives are investigating the circumstances behind a fatal stabbing after a man was found wounded early Sunday morning. First responders were sent to the 100 block of South First Street, around 1:08 a.m. after multiple witnesses reported a man who was stabbed December 22. A 30-year-old man was found wounded and taken to a trauma center where he later died, according to the Alhambra Police Department. “This homicide is believed to be an isolated incident and there is no ongoing threat to the public,” according to the Alhambra Police Department in a written statement. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor ALHAMBRA - Officers discovered the bodies of a man and woman inside their home April 20 after receiving a call from a concerned citizen who had not heard from the couple in days.
The deaths were discovered in a single-family home in the 900 block of North Almansor Street. Police were called to check on the residence at 4:30 p.m. Thursday. While checking the home, officers found an unlocked back door with no signs of forced entry and went inside where they found the bodies, according to the Alhambra Police Department. “The initial investigation indicates the female was a homicide victim and the male committed suicide. Evidence located at the scene indicates this was a murder/suicide and it is believed there is no risk to the public,” according to the Alhambra Police Department in a written statement. Susie Lee Yeh and David Yeh, both 56, were identified by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. Examinations have not yet been scheduled. The pedestrian, described as a 60 to 65-year-old woman, was hit around 2:13 p.m. at the intersection of Garfield Avenue and San Marino Avenue April 11. A driver made a left turn from westbound San Marino Avenue to southbound Garfield Avenue and struck the pedestrian who suffered major injuries, according to the Alhambra Police Department. The woman was transported to a hospital and later died. The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with traffic investigators. They found a Black man in his 40s with gunshot wounds to his upper torso and still alive, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Alhambra Firefighter paramedics declared him dead at the scene, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. It is not publicly clear if Homicide investigators determined a motive or have identified a suspect. The crash occurred at Hidalgo Avenue and Main Street just before 9 p.m. The pedestrian, described as an older woman, died after being taken to Huntington Memorial Hospital, according to the Alhambra Police Department. The pedestrian was in a crosswalk when the crash occurred. There is no evidence the driver was impaired, according to the Alhambra Police Department. Officers responded to multiple 9-1-1 call of the collision in the 2200 block of Larch Street around 10:38 a.m. They found the child suffering major injuries, according to the Alhambra Police Department. The girl was given first aid by Alhambra police officers and firefighters. The latter transported the child to a nearby hospital where she died. The child’s parents were in the area when the collision occurred. “During the initial investigation, officers learned that the child had been struck by a vehicle in the driveway of a condominium complex. The driver of the car remained on the scene and is cooperating with traffic investigators. Traffic investigators with the Alhambra Police Department are handling the case. Police found the wounded male in the 1100 block of N. Garfield Ave. around 10:09 p.m. July 10. Officers performed CPR until Alhambra Fire Department medics arrived to take over care, according to the Alhambra Police Department. Investigators have yet to reveal the age range of the victim. Officers were originally dispatched to the 1100 block of N. Garfield Ave. to investigate a report of shots fired, Alhambra Police said.
