First responders were called to the 800 block of South Sierra Vista Avenue Friday, May 31 around 4:39 p.m. Officers discovered two juvenile males who suffered wounds considered not life-threatening. Three male suspects were seen fleeing the location shortly after gunfire was heard, according to the Alhambra Police Department. The three suspects left in what was described as a dark-colored sedan. Alhambra Police officers responded to multiple calls of gunfire and a gunshot victim in the 400 block of North Atlantic Boulevard around 6:13 p.m. They found a Latino man with multiple gunshot wounds to the upper torso. Alhambra Firefighter paramedics declared him dead at the scene, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. It is not publicly clear if Homicide investigators determined a motive or have identified a suspect. Alhambra officers were called to a reported shooting at Edgewood Avenue and Valley Boulevard around 7:30 a.m. Saturday and found evidence a vehicle-to-vehicle shooting occurred. An unoccupied vehicle struck by gunfire was found at Marengo Avenue and Valley Boulevard, according to the Alhambra Police Department. “Subsequently, a victim was located at a nearby residence. The victim was not struck by the gunfire. After reviewing video surveillance in the area of both shootings, a suspect vehicle was identified. APD Detectives placed a ‘want’ on the suspect vehicle while the investigation continued,” according to the Alhambra Police Department in a written statement. Around Noon February 28, Deputies with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lakewood Station pursued the suspect after he was found in Bellflower. The pursuit ended in Costa Mesa near Victoria Street and Newport Boulevard with a brief foot chase with the armed suspect who allegedly attempted to carjack a driver before being arrested. Police found the wounded male in the 1100 block of N. Garfield Ave. around 10:09 p.m. July 10. Officers performed CPR until Alhambra Fire Department medics arrived to take over care, according to the Alhambra Police Department. Investigators have yet to reveal the age range of the victim. Officers were originally dispatched to the 1100 block of N. Garfield Ave. to investigate a report of shots fired, Alhambra Police said. The shooting took place around 9:48 p.m. May 17 in the 1600 block of South Benito Avenue. The suspect, through the door, asked for a resident by name and then shot several times as a woman approached. When officers arrived, they found a woman wounded near the front door of the residence, according to the Alhambra Police Department. A description of the suspect was obtained. He appears to be a Hispanic man, between 20 and 30 years old, stands 6 feet 3 inches tall, is heavyset, wore a black sweater and blue jeans and he was armed with a semi-automatic handgun, Alhambra Police Department. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor ALHAMBRA - A man accused of firing a weapon during an argument and wounding a woman January 15 was caught hiding in a residential attic at the end of an hours-long barricade, police said.
Angel Gandara allegedly attempted to shoot a 20-year-old man he was arguing with in the 400 block of South First Street at 9 p.m. Thursday. The bullet missed his intended victim, pierced a wall and struck a woman believed to be in her 50s. She suffered a wound to her arm, according to the Alhambra police Department. Officers conducting surveillance in the 100 block of South Granada Avenue, January 21 found Gandara at a residence. He reportedly refused to comply with orders to surrender and barricaded himself inside the residence. Alhambra officers requested the assistance of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Special Enforcement Bureau at 11 p.m. At 5:42 a.m. January 22, sheriff’s deputies breached the residence and eventually located Gandara hiding in the attic. Alhambra police officers arrested him. The case will be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office Tuesday, January 26. County booking information for Gandara was not readily available. Police responding to Westminster Drive and Ramona Road found a man dead from apparent gunshot wounds around 12:45 a.m. September 4, according to the Alhambra Police Department. It is unclear if a suspect is identified, or still outstanding. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor ALHAMBRA - No injuries were reported after a gunman opened fire at a man attempting to sell a motorcycle on an Alhambra street Sunday.
The shooting occurred in the 1400 block of South Atlantic Boulevard around 1:47 p.m. August 23. No victims or witnesses were found, but spent shell casings were discovered, according to Lt. Tai Seki of the Alhambra Police Department. A patron at a nearby taco stand reportedly witnessed either the victim or a suspect fleeing the scene after hearing gunfire, according to Alhambra Police radio traffic. As the investigation continued, the intended victim returned to the scene and identified himself as the man shot at, Seki told SGV CityWatch. “The victim stated he was at the location trying to sell a motorcycle to an unknown suspect when they opened fire on him,” Seki told SGV CityWatch. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor REGION - The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office filed charges Tuesday against the man who reportedly confessed to killing his brother and brother’s spouse. Sam Nhat Do, 42, was charged with two counts of homicide with special circumstances and one count of child endangerment, Alhambra Police said January 28. Do is accused of gunning down Cuong Nhat Do, a 44-year-old man, and Camha Nguyen Do, a 38-year-old woman, in an apartment unit in the 400 block of North Second Street January 24 around 7:14 p.m. Officers responding to a gunfire call found both victims inside the apartment. CPR was administered before time of death was called at 7:26 p.m. Do is being accused of child endangerment because a juvenile was inside the apartment unit at the time of the shooting, Alhambra Police said.
Do flagged down an officer responding to the scene and reportedly confessed to the murders. According to Alhambra Police radio traffic, Do told officers where to find the weapon used. A police helicopter equipped with a heat vision camera located the weapon. A motive has not been determined. Cuong Nhat Do, a 44-year-old man, and Camha Nguyen Do, a 38-year-old woman, were identified by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. They both resided in Anaheim. The murder suspect was identified as 42-year-old Sam Nhat Do of Alhambra. He was booked on suspicion of murder and is being held in lieu of $2 million bail. A man and woman were found suffering gunshot wounds in the 400 block of North Second Street around 7:13 p.m. January 24. CPR was performed on the victims, but they died at the scene. Their deaths were pronounced at 7:26 p.m., according to Alhambra Police radio traffic. Sam Nhat Do stopped an officer en route to the crime scene and reportedly told the officer he killed two people. He also told the officer where to find the weapon used in the killing, according to Alhambra Police radio traffic. With the aid of a helicopter equipped with an infrared camera, a handgun was found near the crime scene. The suspect also spoke of a discarded and loaded gun clip, but it is not known if it was found. A motive in the killings is either unknown or has not been shared publicly. Sam Nhat Do is scheduled to appear in court January 28. |
