The suspects, four juveniles and one adult, were stopped as they fled on the I-10 freeway in Rosemead. Stolen property from a Monterey Park home was discovered, Alhambra Police said. One of the suspects approached a home in the 2500 block of South Whitney around 1:56 p.m. and knocked loudly on the front door. The suspect peered into a window and then jumped a fence into the backyard, Alhambra Police said. A resident or neighbor confronted the suspect who fled into a waiting vehicle that sped away. Searching Alhambra officers located the vehicle on the Interstate 10 freeway in Rosemead and stopped the vehicle, eventually taking all suspects into custody. Arrested was Elijah Brown, an 18-year-old Hemet man. The names and ages of the four juveniles will not be released, Alhambra Police said. All five suspects were arrested on suspicion of burglary and conspiracy charges, Alhambra Police said. Written by AARON CASTREJON | CityWatch Editor LOS ANGELES - A woman behind the wheel of a reported stolen vehicle was arrested after a quick pursuit and foot chase from Alhambra to El Sereno, police said.
The chase began just before 1:40 a.m. after an officer on patrol located the stolen vehicle in the area Main Street and Huntington Drive. The driver refused to stop and led police on a quick pursuit on surface streets, sometimes at speeds around 70 miles per hour, according to Alhambra Police and police radio traffic. The vehicle was reported stolen from the area of Stoneman Avenue and Main Street, Alhambra Police said. The pursuit wound into the El Sereno neighborhood of Los Angeles and into an alleyway where the suspect fled on foot, but she was quickly arrested. Claudia Hernandez, 28, from Los Angeles, was booked on suspicion of grand theft auto, felony evading and a misdemeanor narcotics charge, police said. Hernandez is being held in lieu of $110,000 bail. She is scheduled to appear in Alhambra Superior Court May 21.

ALHAMBRA - Alhambra Police detectives are asking for public help in identifying package thieves seen stealing from a porch March 19.
The crime occurred in the 600 block of North Curtis Avenue. The suspects reportedly posed as solicitors, knocked on the door and then fled with the FedEx package when no one answered. The suspects posed as employees of a free carpet cleaning business, Alhambra Police said. Anyone with information on the theft is urged to call the Alhambra Police Department at 626-308-4875. The attempted robbery was reported in the 1000 block of South Edith Avenue sometime after 10:40 p.m. The suspect approached the victim and demanded cash, Alhambra Police said. When the victim refused, the suspect punched the victim several times and fled emptyhanded. Police were unable to find the suspect. |
