The incident was reported at 5:37 a.m. at South Meridian Avenue and West Commonwealth Avenue Thursday, October 26 near Emery Park Elementary School. The suspect, only described as an adult male, was hospitalized. His condition is not immediately known. “Due to active law enforcement investigation on Commonwealth & Meridian. The incident did NOT occur on campus,” according to the Alhambra Unified School District. Emery Park Elementary School is closed Thursday and is expected to open October 27. The circumstances leading to the shooting are not immediately clear. A man and woman were found suffering gunshot wounds in the 400 block of North Second Street around 7:13 p.m. Alhambra Firefighters worked to aid the victims, but they died at the scene. Their deaths were pronounced at 7:26 p.m., according to Alhambra Police radio traffic. An officer searching the area located and detained a person claiming to be the gunman. He reportedly told officers where to find the weapon used in the killing, according to Alhambra Police radio traffic. With the aid of a helicopter equipped with an infrared camera, a handgun was found near the crime scene. The suspect also spoke of a discarded and loaded gun clip, but it is not immediately known if it was found. The relation between the suspect and the dead victims has yet to be disclosed, as well as a motive. The crash occurred in the area of West Mission Road and South Sixth Street around 3:30 a.m. January 5. Alhambra Police could not provide more details. The investigation is now being handled by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau. The woman wounded by gunfire received a injury considered not life threatening, according to Deputy Trina Schrader of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. No officers were injured. Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide detectives are en route to investigate the police shooting, according to Deputy Michelle Sanchez of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau. The exact sequence of events of the incident are not publicly known yet. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor ALHAMBRA - A train has hit a pedestrian who possibly jumped from the Almansor Street overpass onto the Metrolink railroad tracks. The California Highway Patrol has all lanes stopped until a flare pattern is set up, according to CHP traffic logs. Metrolink sent an alert via social media at 10:12 p.m. about a train stoppage between Cal State University Los Angeles and El Monte due to striking a person on the tracks.
Firefighters were dispatched to the scene just after 10:33 p.m. July 31. Alhambra Police officers may possibly be taking over the investigation. ABC7 Eyewitness news is reporting the deputy was not on duty when the shooting occurred in the restaurant, 2531 W. Valley Boulevard. The deputy was taken to County/USC Medical Center in unknown condition.

Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor ALHAMBRA - One person has died in a vehicle fire after crashing into the rear of a bus on the westbound I-10 freeway east of Fremont Avenue. The crash occurred around 8:15 p.m. Early reports from the scene indicated flames were coming from the rear of the occupied bus, but it is unknown if the fire originated from the bus or the other vehicle. A Sig Alert has been called for an unknown duration for the westbound express lanes and No. 1 and 2 lanes, according to Officer Stephan Brandt of the California Highway Patrol.
Passing motorists reportedly stopped to help extinguish the fire. As CHP officers arrived on scene, the vehicle was already engulfed in flames. Multiple eyewitness reports indicated the driver did not exit the vehicle, Brandt said. The death was not confirmed until firefighters arrived to extinguish the fire, according to the CHP. Alhambra firefighters were called to the scene. It is unclear if anyone on the bus was injured, or which agency the bus belonged to. |
