The theft occurred at Sephora, 2 S. Garfield Ave., November 8. Both suspect fled in a gray Nissan. Arriving officers quickly located and stopped the vehicle Garfield Avenue and Linda Vista Avenue, according to the Alhambra Police Department. Adrienne Lateise Burton, a 22-year-old Victorville residence, and Tanganique Donshanae Bernard, a 26-year-old Compton resident were taken into custody. Bernard is no stranger to theft. She was arrested in August 2023 along with two other women and booked on suspicion of organized retail theft, accused of swiping merchandise from a beauty store in the 12600 block of Fredrick Street in Moreno Valley. Both Burton and Bernard were cited and released. They are scheduled to appear at a Alhambra Municipal Court: Bernard on November 13 and Burton on January 10, 2024. Just after 11:30 p.m. December 20, officers attempted to stop a high-speed driver in the 2400 block of West Valley Boulevard. Minutes after the pursuit began, Alhambra police dispatchers were told that an armed takeover robbery occurred at a restaurant in the 1700 block of West Valley Boulevard, according to the Alhambra Police Department. During the pursuit, the driver lost control of his vehicle and spun 180 degrees. The driver allegedly accelerated, rammed an Alhambra Police patrol vehicle and then continued to flee, according to the Alhambra Police Department. The pursuit ended in Los Angeles in the area of Valley Boulevard and Cavanaugh Road where the driver spun out. Both the driver and passenger fled onto some nearby railroad tracks. With the help of a Los Angeles Police Department helicopter, both suspects were arrested without further incident. An employee of the restaurant that was robbed told police that two suspects entered, ordered all employees down to the ground at gunpoint. Money was taken from the restaurant and from the employees, according to the Alhambra Police Department. Property located in the suspect’s vehicle, including a loaded firearm, allegedly tied both driver and passenger to the restaurant robbery. Lancaster man David Saravia, 23, and Maywood man Tomas Marcos, 22, were arrested. Amongst the charges are robbery, assault with a deadly on a peace officer, kidnapping and undisclosed weapons violations. Saravia is being held without bail on a California Department of Corrections hold. Marcos is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail. Both men are scheduled for a December 23 appearance in Alhambra Municipal Court. The unidentified suspect was arrested May 25, nearly one month to the day he allegedly robbed Toy-Zilla, 43 E. Main St., according to the Alhambra Police Department. Two requests for Alhambra Police to identify the suspect have been unsuccessful. A request for the public’s help was shared on Alhambra Police social media channels five days ago to help find the suspect. It is unclear if a community tip led to an arrest, or if the suspect surrendered himself. The suspect allegedly pointed pepper spray at an employee of Toy-Zilla during the crime. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor ALHAMBRA – Theft suspects from an Alhambra Target store could not outrun a helicopter tracking them as they fled on the I-10 freeway and as they fled on foot Monday.
The unnamed trio are accused of thieving $1,000 in goods from Target, 2120 W. Main St. January 4. Police were called at 9:30 p.m. to find the thieves who were already fleeing in a vehicle, according to the Alhambra Police Department. Patrol officers located the fleeing vehicle at Fremont Street and Poplar Boulevard. The driver refused to stop, according to the Alhambra Police Department. A pursuit took to Los Angeles and nearby freeways. Alhambra officers pursued the suspects on the I-10 freeway as far as Santa Anita Avenue until they decided to allow a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s helicopter to safely track the suspects from the air. The suspects fled east at high speed as far as Hacienda Heights after merging onto the 60 freeway. They quickly fled back west. The driver stopped after exiting the westbound 60 freeway at Potrero Grande Drive in Monterey Park. All three suspects began their escape on foot, but surrendered as the helicopter and Monterey Park Police officers descended on them. A 21-year-old man from Los Angeles, a 24-year-old man from Long Beach and a 22-year-old woman from Los Angeles were booked on suspicion of robbery, felony evading and for outstanding warrants on previous crimes committed, according to the Alhambra Police Department. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor ALHAMBRA - Shots were fired after two armed suspects fled a robbery at a restaurant Tuesday night. No injuries were reported after one suspect opened fire at a robbery victim who gave chase, according to Alhambra Police Commander Sean Heckers. Police were called to the restaurant in the 1200 block of West Valley Boulevard near South Atlantic Boulevard December 3 around 7:43 p.m. Cash from the restaurant and possibly some property from the restaurant’s patrons were taken. Police are still investigating who exactly was robbed, Heckers said. “There was some type of witness who saw people flee the area and there were some shots fired toward the victim that was following [the suspects],” Heckers said.
According to Alhambra Police radio traffic, officers located a weapon, possibly a pellet gun, in the 1200 block of South Marguerita Avenue, as well as some shell casings in the area. The suspects are males, possibly white or Hispanic, in their 20s or 30s. An Alhambra Police crime broadcast further described one suspect as wearing a blue jacket, black pants, a black and blue baseball hat and heavyset. He carried a black handgun. A second suspect wore a grey sweater, yellow construction jacket, grey sweatpants and a dark hat. He also carried a dark handgun. The suspects fled in an older-model white SUV. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor ALHAMBRA - A man accused of flashing a fake badge to pull other motorists over was identified and arrested October 23. Manuel Joe Hance, a 28-year-old San Gabriel man, was located in El Monte and was taken into custody, booked on suspicion of impersonating a police officer and false imprisonment, Alhambra Police said. Hance is accused of stopping three drivers on October 20 and October 22. He attempted to extort cash from two of his victims to have alleged driving violations dismissed, but the two victims refused. Hance drove away from each victim, Alhambra Police said. A third victim did pay Hance $20, Alhambra Police said. Hance was reportedly not in a uniform and drove an unmarked sedan during the alleged crimes.
Hace is being held in lieu of nearly $2.8 million bail at Men’s Central Jail in Los Angeles, according to Los Angeles County booking records. Hance made an initial appearance in Alhambra Superior Court where he pleaded not guilty to two counts of kidnapping to commit another crime, one count of second degree robbery, two counts of ATM robberies, two counts of attempted second degree robbery and one count of impersonating an officer. Alhambra Police detectives are seeking additional victims of a police impersonator and are coordinating with nearby agencies for reports of similar crimes. The crime was reported around 11:30 a.m. outside Chase Bank, 401 E. Valley Blvd. One suspect struggled to free the purse, which was recovered, according to Sgt. Carlos Donato of the Alhambra Police Department.
During a crime broadcast issued Friday, the suspects were described as Black men. Both were dressed in all black clothing. The armed suspect was the passenger, Alhambra Police said. The suspects entered a vehicle and fled from the scene, Donato said. The suspect vehicle was seen westbound on Valley Boulevard and out of sight. The masked suspects forced their way into the home in the 1200 block of North Hidalgo Avenue just before 3:30 a.m. Sunday. The occupants were detained while the suspects ransacked the home. What was taken was not yet known, according to the Alhambra Police Department. The caretaker was threatened with a gun and then struck in the head with an unknown object. The 90-year-old man received a cut after being pushed off the bed, Alhambra Police said. The suspects were only described as wearing beanies and masks. The robbery occurred outside Pepe’s, 517 W. Valley Blvd. around 9:25 p.m. The victim was talking on his phone when he heard someone addressing him. After turning around to see who walk talking to him, he saw the suspect aiming a gun at the victim’s face, Alhambra Police said. The suspect order the victim to empty his pockets and he complied. The victim was ordered to turn around and don’t look back, or he would be shot, Alhambra Police said. Alhambra Police did not state what the victim lost. The suspect is a Hispanic man, 5 feet 8 inches tall, 200 pounds, has a stocky build, short buzzed hair, a dark complexion and tattoos on both arms.
