Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor ALHAMBRA - Police and firefighters rescued a female who climbed to the outside of a pedestrian bridge and attempted to jump Saturday afternoon. Officers responded to the Marguerita Avenue pedestrian bridge around Noon April 20 and found the female on the outside of the fencing as she climbed her way over to westbound lanes, Alhambra Police said. All lanes of the I-10 freeway were closed by the California Highway Patrol while officers worked to save the female.
Officers used restraints to secure the female’s body to the chain link fencing. The female stepped off the ledge and went limp in an attempt to fall, but officers held on, Alhambra Police said. A hole was cut through the chain link for an officer to hold onto the female until firefighters arrived with a ladder truck. The female was lowered to the ground and was transported to an area hospital for an evaluation, Alhambra Police said. The female was soon reunited with her family. |
