22-year-old David Lemus-Orellana is being held in lieu of $1 million bail in the death of Florida Velasquez-Hernandez. The woman’s body was found in the 3300 block of Maxson Road Tuesday, February 4, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. The motive for the murder is unknown, the Sheriff’s Department said. El Monte Police responded to calls of a man dragging a woman’s body to some dumpsters just before 10:30 a.m. Tuesday and arriving officers made the grim discovery. Authorities eventually interviewed witnesses and had a possible suspect detained. It is unclear if the initial suspect is Lemus-Orellana. Officers found the woman after responding to a call of a man seen dragging a woman towards some dumpsters in the 3300 block of Maxson Road February 4 just before 10:30 a.m. The cause of death is unknown. Homicide detectives with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau are assisting El Monte Police with the investigation. “Several witnesses are being questioned and one possible suspect is being detained for questioning,” according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor EL MONTE - Two people were hospitalized after the vehicle they were in crashed and burst into flames Sunday morning. The crash occurred on Valley Boulevard near Monterey Avenue February 2. A vehicle struck an AT&T store, 10761 Valley Blvd., and burst into flames, according to El Monte Police Lt. Ernie Cramer. The collision occurred just before 11 a.m. “Both the driver and passenger are in very critical condition,” Cramer told SGV CityWatch. “When we got there the vehicle was involved with flames.We got the driver and passenger extricated as fast as they could.”
One patient was in traumatic full arrest. One victim was taken to County/USC Medical Center. One was taken to Greater El Monte Community Hospital, according to Los Angeles County Fire Depart ent radio traffic. Valley Boulevard between Center Avenue and Santa Anita Avenue is closed due to an investigation. The cause remains under investigation. |
