EL MONTE - The pilot of a small plane landed his aircraft in the Santa Anita Wash October 10 after possibly experiencing engine trouble.
The pilot landed in the Santa Anita Wash area closest to the San Gabriel Valley Airport, 4233 N. Santa Anita Ave. around 5:07 p.m., after experiencing issues roughly five minutes prior. Air traffic control at San Gabriel Valley Airport called Los Angeles County Firefighters to the scene, but the pilot was uninjured. “Operations, just be advised we had an experimental aircraft flew down in the wash. There appears to be no injuries. The pilot had reported he is fine,” according to air traffic control radio transmissions. The plane is an experimental Tucano Replica fixed wing aircraft built and owned by Robin Langhofer. Jan’s Towing arrived to lift the aircraft to the road. Listen to the audio below: |
