Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor EL MONTE - Police searched for an assault with a deadly weapon suspect after an argument inside a motel room led a man to strike his victim with a gun Wednesday night. Police were called to the assault with a deadly weapon at Motel 6, 3429 Peck Rd., at 11:52 p.m. October 16. The suspect and victim were in the room together when at some point the victim wanted the suspect gone, said Lt. Ernie Cramer of the El Monte Police Department. The victim, who paid for the room, was struck by the suspect who became mad at the request to leave, Cramer said.
Firefighters were called to examine the victim, but apparently no in juries were sustained. A West Covina Police K9 and deputies with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Special Enforcement Bureau assisted with a search. The suspect fled the location and remains at-large. The shooting took place around 2:45 p.m. at 3501 Santa Anita Ave. El Monte officers responding to a call of a man shooting a gun encountered a suspect. During a foot pursuit, the suspect withdrew a weapon and officers opened fire. The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. A gun was recovered at the scene. Both upper and lower platforms are closed, according to the Los Angeles Metropolitan Transportation Authority. |
