Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor EL MONTE - A suspicious fire burned two residential structures and two sheds at a property in town Saturday afternoon. A victim was found stabbed at the scene in the 4400 block of Bannister Avenue. The adult male reportedly stabbed himself in the chest. He was transported in serious condition, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. A one-story home, detached garage and two sheds burned just after Noon September 12.
An arson investigator and El Monte Police were called to the scene, according to Los Angeles County Fire Department radio traffic. The cause of the fire is under investigation. No other victims were found. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor EL MONTE - A driver who led officers on a chase into the City of Industry Saturday was jailed after crashing near some railroad tracks. A patrol officer attempted to stop the driver around 11 p.m. August 29 at Peck Road and Garvey Avenue, but the driver refused to yield, according to Lt. Doug Knight of the El Monte Police Department. The driver reportedly was wanted for reckless driving, according to Lieutenant Pete Rasic of El Monte Police.
The pursuit lasted roughly 15 to 20 minutes before It ended in the city of industry at Valley Boulevard and Fairway Avenue near the Union Pacific railroad tracks. The driver was booked on suspicion of evading a peace officer, reckless driving and assault with a deadly weapon, Knight told SGV CityWatch. The suspects name was not readily available. |
