El Monte officers responded to the 10000 block of Valley Boulevard at 8:50 p.m. May 20 to a disturbance call and found a man suffering from several stab wounds to the upper torso. The man later died after being hospitalized, according to Deputy Maria Lucero of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. There is no additional information available. The victim, only described as a Hispanic man, was found suffering gunshot wounds in the 4500 block of Peck Road around 8:44 p.m. May 3. He later died after being hospitalized, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. El Monte Police are being assisted by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau in determining a suspect and motive.

Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor EL MONTE – A driver was arrested by the California Highway Patrol Wednesday after allegedly refusing to stop for El Monte officers for talking on the phone while driving. An El Monte officer witnessed the female driver talking on a cell phone while waiting at a red light at Santa Anita Avenue and Valley Boulevard April 29 around 11:12 p.m. The driver refused to pull over for the officer and the chase was on, according to Lt. Ernie Cramer of the El Monte Police Department. The pursuit entered the freeways where officers pursued the driver through Whittier and into Orange County. The CHP was given the pursuit in the Buena Park area, Cramer said. The pursuit wound its way through Brea, La Habra and even Fullerton, according to CHP radio traffic.
The CHP was given the pursuit in the Buena Park area, Cramer said. The driver stopped on West Artesia Boulevard at South Wilmington Avenue in Compton and refused to exit until less lethal rounds helped the CHP take the suspect into custody. The CHP could not be reached Thursday morning for arrest information on the suspect. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor EL MONTE - A resident was arrested and accused of assault with a deadly weapon after his dog allegedly charged towards an officer Saturday afternoon. Police responded to the 11400 block of Lambert Avenue around 3:20 p.m. April 18 to a report of a vicious dog which allegedly tried to bite a resident. During an interview with the resident, an El Monte officer fired his weapon at the dog after it allegedly charged at them, according to Lt. Pete Rasic of the El Monte Police Department. “The dog was shot at, but not hit,” Rasic told SGV CityWatch.
The dog’s owner, 33-year-old Michael Montenegro, called his pet back to him and reportedly made threats towards officers. He went into his home, Rasic told SGV CityWatch. Montenegro, an El Monte resident, refused to exit for officers until 8 a.m. Sunday morning when he surrendered. The dog was taken away by animal control. Montenegro was booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. He is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail. The suspect was driving a vehicle taken three days ago within El Monte. An officer on patrol recognized the vehicle and drove back around to stop the driver near Fineview Street and Maxson Road, but the suspect ran on foot, according to Lt. Chris Cano of the El Monte Police Department. The officer attempted to stop the driver at 5:33 p.m. April 17. The stolen vehicle was abandoned at Peck Road and Weaver Street, Cano told SGV CityWatch. The suspect was found hiding in a residential property during a yard to yard search at 6:03 p.m., Cano told SGV CityWatch. 37-year-old Ricardo Lopez was booked on suspicion of grand theft auto. The unidentified victim was declared dead at the scene. Suspect information is either unknown or has not been shared publicly yet. EL MONTE - Police have traffic blocked for a criminal investigation near Lower Azusa Road and Santa Anita Avenue March 6. While police have yet to state the nature of the call, the Los Angeles County Fire Department stated a call was dispatched at 7:33 a.m. to a reported gunshot victim in the 11000 block of East Lower Azusa Road, according to County fire spokesman Austin Bennett. Firefighters waited for El Monte Police to secure the scene before treating a victim. Firefighters did not transport a victim, Bennett said. 22-year-old David Lemus-Orellana is being held in lieu of $1 million bail in the death of Florida Velasquez-Hernandez. The woman’s body was found in the 3300 block of Maxson Road Tuesday, February 4, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. The motive for the murder is unknown, the Sheriff’s Department said. El Monte Police responded to calls of a man dragging a woman’s body to some dumpsters just before 10:30 a.m. Tuesday and arriving officers made the grim discovery. Authorities eventually interviewed witnesses and had a possible suspect detained. It is unclear if the initial suspect is Lemus-Orellana. Officers found the woman after responding to a call of a man seen dragging a woman towards some dumpsters in the 3300 block of Maxson Road February 4 just before 10:30 a.m. The cause of death is unknown. The crash occurred January 18 around 9:30 p.m. at Garvey Avenue and Washington Avenue. One vehicle broadsided another. A 12-year-old boy was ejected in the crash, according to the El Monte Police Department. The driver of a blue Chevrolet Suburban fled the crash and remains out of custody, El Monte Police said.
The boy, initially listed in critical condition was upgraded to stable, El Monte Police said. Two other occupants received minor injuries. The unidentified man was pronounced dead at the scene in the 4400 block of Baldwin Avenue. Although a Sheriff’s press release listed the time of the reported stabbing as 7 a.m., firefighters were called by deputies at 7:20 a.m. to Baldwin Avenue between Lower Azusa Road and Gidley Street for a cardiac arrest victim. Firefighters arrived on scene and declared the victim dead on arrival six minutes later, according to Austin Bennett of the Los Angeles County Fire Department. The Sheriff’s Department has yet to provide more details regarding the stabbing death.
Just after 8 a.m., El Monte Police had all lanes of Baldwin Avenue blocked between Lower Azusa and Valley Boulevard. |
