The death occurred in the 10400 block of Garvey Avenue around 5:30 p.m. The victim, only described as a man, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. Firefighters responded to a hotel for a patient in full arrest, according to Dispatch Supervisor Imogene McBride of the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
The address is La Bonita Motel, 10407 Garvey Ave. The manner of death was not disclosed. No other information is available. Loi Tran, 39, was arrested by El Monte Police the day of the murder, September 16. Tran is being held without bail, according to Los Angeles County booking records. Tran was initially detained by El Monte Police, who arrived on scene after being called to a stabbing in the 10500 block of Lower Azusa Road just before 12:30 p.m. The victim was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead. The unidentified Asian victim is married to Tran’s sister, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. The victim and Tran were involved in an ongoing family dispute. Tran is scheduled to appear in Rio Hondo Municipal Court Tuesday, September 18. A man was found by responding El Monte Police officers, suffering from multiple stab wounds to his upper torso in the 10500 block of Lower Azusa Road just before 12:30 p.m. September 16., according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. The man was taken to an area hospital and later pronounced dead, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau detectives said. “A male adult was located and detained without incident at the location, who may have been involved in the crime,” the Sheriff’s Information Bureau said. The presumed murder weapon was recovered at the scene. Although related, how the suspect and victim are specifically related is not known. Ana Maria was found shot inside the home she and the suspect shared together. She was taken to an area hospital where Ana Maria and the unborn baby were pronounced dead.
The estranged couple have addition children, who were not home at the time of the shooting, investigators said. A California Highway Patrol officer safety broadcast noted Curiel-Martinez may be headed to Mexico. Curiel-Martinez should be considered armed and dangerous. The victim, only described as a Hispanic adult male, crashed his vehicle into the gate at a business in the 12300 block of Valley Boulevard. Officers were dispatched to a traffic collision and flagged down by a passerby who pointed out the crashed vehicle, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. The driver, suffering from at least one gunshot wound to the upper torso, was declared dead at the scene. There is no suspect description available. Valley Boulevard between Durfee Road and the 605 freeway remains closed during an investigation, El Monte Police said.
