Police were called to the assault with a deadly weapon at Motel 6, 3429 Peck Rd., at 11:52 p.m. October 16. The suspect and victim were in the room together when at some point the victim wanted the suspect gone, said Lt. Ernie Cramer of the El Monte Police Department. The victim, who paid for the room, was struck by the suspect who became mad at the request to leave, Cramer said.
Firefighters were called to examine the victim, but apparently no in juries were sustained. A West Covina Police K9 and deputies with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Special Enforcement Bureau assisted with a search. The suspect fled the location and remains at-large. The shooting took place around 2:45 p.m. at 3501 Santa Anita Ave. El Monte officers responding to a call of a man shooting a gun encountered a suspect. During a foot pursuit, the suspect withdrew a weapon and officers opened fire. The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. A gun was recovered at the scene. Both upper and lower platforms are closed, according to the Los Angeles Metropolitan Transportation Authority. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor EL MONTE - An small aircraft landed in the Rio Honda Wash, firefighters reported Thursday afternoon. The plane hit the Rio Hondo Wash just north of San Gabriel Valley Airport, 4233 N. Santa Anita Avenue around 5:19 p.m. The plane landed in roughly an inch of water. The pilot was spotted sitting on a wing and was airlifted by a Sheriff’s helicopter, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
Air traffic controllers advised LA County Fire of a plane down north of the airport. The plane and pilot were located in the wash near West Hondo Parkway. It is unclear why the pilot landed in the Rio Hondo Wash. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor

Officers responded to 7-Eleven, 10008 Valley Blvd., at 10:17 p.m. April 26 and found Rosas dead of multiple gunshot wounds. He died in the parking lot, according to Lt. Chris Cano of the El Monte Police Department. Rosas reportedly was trying to break up a fight when he was shot twice. Angel Rosas was identified by Lt. David Smith of the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. Police responded to 7-Eleven, 10008 Valley Blvd., at 10:17 p.m. April 26 and found the victim dead of at least two gunshot wounds to the upper torso. Rosas died in the parking lot.
Sheriff’s homicide detectives are investigating the shooting. There are two suspects, homicide detectives said. They are only described as Hispanic men. Police responded to 7-Eleven, 10008 Valley Blvd., at 10:17 p.m. and found one male victim dead of multiple gunshot wounds. The victim died in the parking lot, according to Lt. Chris Cano of the El Monte Police Department. A suspect description was unavailable. The investigation was transferred to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau, Cano said. Police were called to the crash around 5:39 a.m. January 6. Both El Monte Police officers and Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the crash. Firefighters arrived and declared the female adult dead at the scene, according to the El Monte Police Department.
It does not appear if alcohol, drugs, distracted driving or weather played a factor in the collision. The driver remained at the scene, El Monte Police said. It was not immediately known if the pedestrian was in a marked crosswalk when the collision occurred. Firefighters responded to a hotel for a patient in full arrest, according to Dispatch Supervisor Imogene McBride of the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
The address is La Bonita Motel, 10407 Garvey Ave. The manner of death was not disclosed. No other information is available. Loi Tran, 39, was arrested by El Monte Police the day of the murder, September 16. Tran is being held without bail, according to Los Angeles County booking records. Tran was initially detained by El Monte Police, who arrived on scene after being called to a stabbing in the 10500 block of Lower Azusa Road just before 12:30 p.m. The victim was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead. The unidentified Asian victim is married to Tran’s sister, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. The victim and Tran were involved in an ongoing family dispute. Tran is scheduled to appear in Rio Hondo Municipal Court Tuesday, September 18. A man was found by responding El Monte Police officers, suffering from multiple stab wounds to his upper torso in the 10500 block of Lower Azusa Road just before 12:30 p.m. September 16., according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. The man was taken to an area hospital and later pronounced dead, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau detectives said. “A male adult was located and detained without incident at the location, who may have been involved in the crime,” the Sheriff’s Information Bureau said. The presumed murder weapon was recovered at the scene. Although related, how the suspect and victim are specifically related is not known. |
