CityWatch Editor GLENDORA - Investigators identified the hiker who was found dead near a trail in the Glendora foothills February 26. Young Min, a 66-year-old Covina man, was identified by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner. His cause of death was deferred, pending additional investigation. First responders were called to Big Dalton Canyon Road east of Glendora Mountain Road around 12:37 p.m. February 27. Min was found dead somewhere near the Coulter Pine Trail. CityWatch Editor GLENDORA - A man is facing domestic violence and weapon brandishing charges, accused of threatening family inside a home Tuesday. Police descended to a home near West Mauna Loa Avenue and South Pennsylvania Avenue January 20. Police responded with their Peacekeeper SWAT vehicle as a precaution after being told a weapon was brandished at some point during an argument, according to Sgt. Jake Swann of the Glendora Police Department. Police were called at 6:23 p.m. The suspect peacefully surrendered and was taken into custody around 6:45 p.m. Swann told SGV CityWatch. Hein Zaw, 48, was taken into custody. He was booked on suspicion of corporal injury on a spouse or cohabitant, brandishing a weapon in a rude, angry or threatening way and assault with a firearm, Swann told SGV CityWatch. CityWatch Editor GLENDORA - Traffic is being greatly impacted after a fiery collision occurred on the eastbound 210 Foothill Freeway just east of Sunflower Avenue, Tuesday. Two people have been transported for treatment to area hospitals. One person received what was described as critical injuries, and the second person received minor injuries, according to California Highway Patrol. A Sig Alert has been issued for the HOV and the No. 1 and 2 lanes for 45 minutes. The crash occurred at 5:39 p.m. Initially, CHP reported a three-vehicle collision between a silver four-door sedan, a black pick up truck and a red van towing a trailer. The van hauling the trailer was apparently on fire. Initially, it was reported an elderly couple were injured and good. CityWatch Editor GLENDORA - Two male juveniles were detained Monday morning having fled to a school campus after allegedly fighting with a man whom they tried to rob of a bicycle, a Sheriff’s lieutenant said. Deputies were called around 9:20 a.m. December 15 to Sunflower Avenue and Cienega Avenue on a reported assault by two teens, both 16 and 14 years old. Deputies learned the teens tried to take a man’s bicycle. Words were exchanged and an altercation followed, according to Lt. Serrano of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s San Dimas Station. The teens fled, after failing to take the bicycle, to the campus housing Arrow High School, 1505 S. Sunflower Ave., Serrano told SGV CityWatch. Sheriff’s deputies were assisted by Glendora Police officers in locating and detaining the teens. The bicyclist who was assaulted received minor injuries and refused treatment, Serrano told SGV CityWatch. ********** Copyright 2025. CityWatch Editor GLENDORA - Homicide detectives are investigating a suspicious death in a Glendora neighborhood. First responders were sent to the 200 block of Forestdale Avenue around 2:20 a.m. Saturday, October 25. The victim, only described as a male adult, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau. It is not publicly clear if investigators have identified any suspects. Anyone with information on this shooting is urged to call the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500. CityWatch Editor GLENDORA - A collision on the eastbound 210 freeway in Glendora sent a vehicle tumbling off of traffic lanes Sunday night. A vehicle described as a white Volvo SUV was reportedly struck by a vehicle at Lone Hill Avenue. The SUV then struck the center divider and tumbled off the freeway near the Toyota dealership in the 1900 block of Auto Centre Drive, according to the California Highway Patrol. A CHP helicopter is circling the area to ensure that no one was ejected from the Volvo SUV. Officers were unable to interview the driver who was taken to a hospital for treatment. The tumbling SUV destroyed 20 feet of guard rail near freeway lanes and sent 20 to 30 feet of chain-link fence into the nearby San Dimas Wash. ********** Copyright 2025. CityWatch Editor COVINA - A pursuit suspect crashed while trying to escape pursuing Glendora Police officers September 20. Glendora officers gave chase after the suspect, who was seen driving in opposing lanes, refused to stop near Glendora Avenue and the 210 freeway, according to Lt. Tim Crawford of the Glendora Police Department. The crash occurred around 10:30 p.m. The pursuit stuck to surface streets until the suspect crashed near the Metrolink railroad tracks on Citrus Avenue at Front Street in Covina. Isaac Abimael Jacinto Medina, 26, was booked on suspicion of evading police with wanton disregard for public safety, assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer likely to produce great bodily injury, driving under the influence of alcohol, DUI with a blood alcohol content of 0.08 percent or higher, and obstructing/resisting a peace office, according to Glendora Police booking records. CityWatch Editor GLENDORA - Police arrested a man accused of shooting his brother during a fight Monday night. The fight and shooting took place in a residence in the 1200 block of North Barranca Avenue September 15. First responders were sent to the home around 7:25 p.m. The victim was reportedly shot in the neck. The suspect fled the residence, according to Lt. Matt Fenner of the Glendora Police Department. Within an hour, the suspect was found driving. A high-risk traffic stop was made and he was arrested. The weapon used in the shooting was found in the vehicle, Fenner told SGV CityWatch. The victim, shot in the neck, is expected to survive. Officers were able to get a brief statement at the scene, but he hasn’t been able to speak since while he is being treated, Fenner told SGV CityWatch. Nathaniel Isaiah Leonard, 37, was booked on suspicion of attempted murder. CityWatch Editor GLENDORA - The driver of a flatbed tow truck was hospitalized Thursday morning after crashing down an embankment. The crash occurred around 4:53 a.m. September 4 on the transition road from the northbound 57 freeway to the eastbound 210 freeway. First responders received an iPhone crash notification and attempted to contact the phone’s owner, but heard nothing on an open line. When first responders got to the crash, they saw the driver trapped inside the twisted wreck, breathing and conscious, according to California Highway Patrol traffic logs. Los Angeles County firefighters used the jaws of life to cut open the back of the truck. The driver was freed. The driver received major injuries in the crash, and it was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, according to Officer Michael Nasir of the CHP. ********** Copyright 2025. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor GLENDORA - No one was injured when a pursuit suspect attempted to ram a San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office vehicle and crashed into a California Highway Patrol cruiser at the end of a lengthy pursuit Wednesday. The freeway chase, initiated by San Bernardino County deputies from the department’s Victorville Station, led to the San Gabriel Valley via the I-10 freeway. The suspects were wanted for a cellphone theft, according to CHP radio traffic. The pursuit exited onto surface streets in West Covina at Citrus Avenue and plotted north into Glendora where the suspects fled after pinning themselves into a cul de sac at Rosalynn Drive near Glendora Avenue, just south of the 210 freeway in Glendora. The suspect driver allegedly struck a CHP Ranch Cucamonga cruiser, according to the CHP. A search from the ground and air yielded the arrest of five juveniles, ages 15 to 16, and two 19-year-olds. A pellet gun resembling a handgun was recovered from the suspect vehicle. |
