Dennis Saunders was identified by Investigator Nani Cholakians of the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. Saunders died by hanging. No city of residence was found for Saunders. He may be a transient, Cholakians said. Saunders’ body was discovered along East View Trail, accessed from the 700 block of South Elwood Avenue around 9:30 a.m. December 16. A passerby found Saunders, according to Lt. Mike Randazzo of the Glendora Police Department. He was officially declared dead at 9:59 a.m., according to Coroner Public Information Officer Sarah Ardalani. A passerby found the man dead on a trail at the park, 701 E. Mauna Loa Ave., before 9:30 a.m. Police arrived and declared the man dead at the scene, according to Lt. Mike Randazzo of the Glendora Police Department. The man was found on or near the East View Trail, located off the 700 block of South Elwood Avenue, according to Sarah Ardalani of the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. The man, described as a Caucasian in his 50s, was pronounced dead at 9:59 a.m. His death was ruled a suicide by hanging, Ardalani said. Next of kin has yet to be notified. The checkpoint, held in an undisclosed location, is being deployed in partnership with the California Office of Traffic Safety and Nation Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Driver Sober, or Get Pulled Over campaign. During the 18-day deployment, law enforcement agencies will conduct checkpoints and DUI saturation patrols throughout the Christmas and New Years holidays. Checkpoint funding is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The incident was reported to police around 6:46 p.m. December 13. The suspect and victim began arguing about proper driving. The suspect then brandished a handgun in the air, according to Lt. Marty Barrett of the Glendora Police Department. Both the victim and suspect left the area before police arrived. “We documented it, because there was a gun involved,” Barrett said. The suspect, a black man in his 40s with braided hair, fled in a newer silver four-door car. Todd Cook, 57, was last seen at Glendora Grand, 805 E. Arrow Hwy., around 5:30 p.m. Saturday, December 8, according to the Glendora Police Department. Cook is a white male, 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs 176 pounds. Cook has short black hair, blue eyes, and was seen wearing a tan jacket, blue flannel shirt, black pants and black shoes.
