Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor GLENDORA – A man and woman tied to a daring home burglary spent a few nights in a cold cell after police tracked them down and arrested them last month.
Neighbors rushed to aid a woman, the victim of a home burglary February 20. She returned home in the 1000 block of South Glendora Avenue around 5 p.m. to find an armed man inside her home. He stole her cell phone as he fled, according to the Glendora Police Department. The suspect ran into a waiting black sedan that sped away. "Responding officers quickly identified both of the suspects through video surveillance from prior incidents involving mail theft, and from prior contacts with them,” according to the Glendora Police Department. Gabriel Arroyo, a 44-year-old Azusa man, and Aimee Rodriguez, a 43-year-old Baldwin Park woman, were arrested without further incident. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office filed one count each of residential burglary against both suspects. Arroyo posted $50,000 bond. Rodriguez remained in custody in lieu of $125,000 until an initial scheduled court appearance. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor GLENDORA – Methamphetamine and tools commonly used in vehicle burglaries were discovered after a bicyclist was stopped March 3, police said. Christopher Rangel, 36, was stopped on a bicycle near Grand Avenue and Route 66 at 1 a.m. Wednesday after allegedly committing a traffic violation. During the investigation, the officer discovered methamphetamine, a vehicle wedge pump, several lock picks and numerous vehicle keys, according to the Azusa Police Department. “An air wedge like the one photographed is commonly used by car burglars to pry open vehicle doors,’ according to the Glendora Police Department in a written statement. Rangel was arrested and booked on suspicion of being in possession of burglary tools and narcotics. Rangel was issued a citation and released. Los Angeles County booking information did not specify a future court date. |
