Officers and Los Angeles County firefighters responded to the 200 block of South Vista Bonita Avenue around 8:49 p.m. Officers were called to a report of gunfire heard and located the wounded man. The vehicle is parked on the street, according to Lt. Mike Henderson of the Glendora Police Department. The 200 block of Vista Bonita remains closed for a death investigation. Joseph Castle, 44, was identified by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. He died of multiple gunshot wounds. The manner of death was homicide. GLENDORA - A suspect accused of shooting a man inside a supermarket Monday was arrested in Pomona, the Glendora Police Department announced. Larry Ronnie Bravo, 25, was found in Pomona at Noon June 21 and taken into custody, according to the Glendora Police Department. The shooting was not random and stemmed from a likely ongoing domestic issue. Bravo shot his victim inside Vons, 435 W. Foothill Blvd., according to the Glendora Police Department. First responders were called to the supermarket around 8:59 p.m. Police officers and Los Angeles County firefighters treated the victim and he was transported to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center. Firefighters were dispatched to a reported gunshot victim in the area of Grand Avenue and Foothill Boulevard at 9 p.m. Monday, June 20. One patient was transported. The victim’s condition was not publicly known, according to Dispatch Supervisor Jeremy Stafford of the Los Angeles County Fire Department. Users of the Ring app reported a shooting at or near Vons, 435 W. Foothill Blvd. A Glendora resident who was out for an evening walk two streets away from the Vons heard at least two gunshots soon followed by the wailing of police sirens. “We were in the parking lot shortly after the cops arrived on scene and the fire trucks were there as well. The fire trucks were blocking the views of the entrance. Cops were hustling around for supplies from trunks,” according to the resident who asked her name not be used. “The scene was VERY active and we chose to get out for safety reasons as cops were just rushing in and it didn’t seem like it was a contained scene yet,” according to the resident. Fire trucks had already left the scene and crime scene tape was set up outside the store when the resident returned 20 to 30 minutes later. Employees were standing at the front entrance along with other officers. Other officers appear to be searching at least one vehicle, according to the resident. It is unclear if anyone is in custody. Investigators are seeking one count of attempted murder against Eddy Velarde, 33, and one count of possession of a controlled substance. Officers encountered a man who said he was targeted by a an unknown man who fired several rounds at him in the parking lot of Tuesday morning, 1000 E. Route 66, around 2:19 a.m. February 5. He was not injured, according to the Glendora Police Department. After the argument, the suspect, later identified as Velarde, returned with a handgun and opened fire, Glendora police said. Investigators were able to identify and locate Velarde who was arrested later that night in Glendora around 8:50 p.m. The handgun investigators allege was used in the shooting was recovered from Velarde’s possession, Glendora Police said. The case will be filed this week with the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. The shooting took place in the 700 block of East Claraday Street around 2:37 p.m. Police arrived to the scene and found no victims there, according to the Glendora Police Department. The street was closed down for one hour during the investigation. A nearby resident who wishes his name not be used was working on his condo when gunfire was heard. “I was working in my condo upstairs when it happened. My wife and a bunch of my neighbors heard it to. We all heard four shots,” the resident said in an interview with SGV CityWatch. “I thought that those must be fireworks at first because this is a very quiet neighborhood and I haven’t heard of anything like that happening here before,” the resident told SGV CityWatch, adding “Honestly, the police were here within about 10 minutes. I think with so many people home due COVID there must have been multiple calls. Vondarrow Dewayne Fisher was identified by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. Fisher and one other man are accused of a takeover robbery of Lamas Jewelry, 750 W. Route 66, around 12:15 p.m. September 6. Fisher was located by an officer in the driveway of a nearby mixed-use complex in the 600 block of West Route 66. Fisher reportedly refused to comply with the officer’s commands and was shot.
Fisher was taken to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center where he died, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau. 43-year-old Maria Luisa Valenzuela-Ayala was arrested at 2:09 p.m. at 750 W. Route 66. Valenzuela-Ayala was booked on suspicion of robbery. One other suspect remains outstanding, with a containment and search focusing on the neighborhood south of the scene of the crime — Lamas Jewelry, 750 Route 66. The outstanding suspect is a black man with a thin build. He has short dreadlocks with hair shaved on the sides of his head and wore a black jacket or white shirt and blue jean pants, Glendora Police said. The Foothills Special Enforcement Team is working to locate a suspect. As of 5:15 p.m. a contingent of SWAT team members followed by a Glendora Police cruiser down Vecino Drive south of Route 66 where a search continues. A jewelry heist occurred around 12:15 p.m. September 6. As Glendora Police arrived, a woman was detained in a nearby vehicle. She was eventually arrested. The two fleeing suspects ran through the rear exit of the jewelry store. Police encountered an armed man in a parking lot in the 600 block of Route 66 where the shooting occurred after the suspect reportedly refused to comply with the officer’s commands, according to Lt. Robert Westphalia of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau. Firefighters arrived at 12:34 p.m. and transported the injured suspect to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. The suspect still outstanding is a black man with a thin build, has short dreadlocks and the sides of his head are shaved.
