Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor GLENDORA – A pursuit suspect and his passenger were arrested Wednesday morning after fleeing Covina Police into Glendora.
The driver crashed at the end of the vehicle pursuit, leaving his female passenger behind near the 210 freeway and Sunflower Avenue. The suspect reportedly fled into a home occupied by a resident, according to Lt. Tony Zavala of the Covina Police Department. Covina patrol officers attempted to stop the driver of a 1990s Honda Civic at Barranca Avenue and Covina Boulevard around 11:16 a.m. March 23. The Civic was reported stolen Tuesday in Whittier, Zavala told SGV CityWatch. The driver surrendered and was taken into custody around 11:41 a.m. The passenger was also arrested, Zavala told SGV CityWatch. Both suspects are facing grand theft auto charges. The driver will additionally face felony evading and burglary charges, Zavala told SGV CityWatch. The suspects’ names are not yet available as officers are still confirming their identification. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor GLENDORA – A man allegedly driving a stolen vehicle at high-speed on the wrong side of the road was finally caught after crashing into a parked vehicle October 9, the Glendora Police Department said.
Officers accuse Eddie Jessie Valdez, 37, of evading police, causing an injury hit and run collision and grand theft auto, according to the Glendora Police Department. A patrol officer witnessed the driver of a stolen vehicle speeding in opposing lanes of traffic around 9:50 p.m. in the 700 block of West Route 66. The officer attempted to catch up with the driver, but the driver crashed into a parked vehicle at Glenwood Avenue and Route 66, according to the Glendora Police Department. “The suspect fled the stolen vehicle on foot and the officer gave chase. The suspect, identified as Eddie Valdez, was quickly apprehended and taken into custody without further incident,” according to the Glendora Police Department in a written statement. In addition to the charges listed above, Valdez was additionally charged with violating the terms of his Post Release Community Supervision. Valdez is being held without bail in the Men’s Central Jail in Los Angeles. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor GLENDORA - Days after being arrested and booked on suspicion of vehicle theft, hit and run, DUI and resisting arrest, a Covina man allegedly put up some items he stole online. William Nice, 57, was located in West Covina January 16 after police said he stole a truck from a mobile home park in the 400 block of East Route 66. The driver crashed into a passing vehicle as he fled, Glendora Police said. After receiving word of the truck’s location, Glendora Police arrived to a West Covina motel and witnessed a driver attempt to flee the parking lot in the stolen truck. The driver then tried to flee on foot, but was caught after attempting to flee over a wall, Glendora Police said. The truck as well as some of the victim’s stolen tools, found in a nearby car, were recovered. Nice posted $50,000 bail.
Glendora Police detectives learned January 23 that some remaining stolen tools were being posted online for sale. Glendora detectives and assisting officers served a search warrant in a Claremont motel and found Nice inside. some of the tools were located and recovered, Glendora Police said. “Nice was arrested a second time and booked for possession of stolen property. He was later released with a citation. Several of the victim's stolen tools are still outstanding,” Glendora Police said in a written statement. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor GLENDORA - A grand theft auto suspect was jailed Thursday after police tracked him down to a Glendora home where a vehicle he stole hours before was found. Jonathan Wattie, 37, was tracked down to a home in the 500 block of East Sierra Madre Avenue and taken into custody January 31. He is, accused of taking a Toyota Camry sometime before 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to the Glendora Police Department. With the help of a Pasadena Police helicopter, the vehicle was tracked to the Sierra Madre address. A search warrant was executed: the stolen Camry was located in a garage and Wattie was detained, Glendora Police said.
“Wattie is a suspected Pasadena gang member and he is on parole for robbery. He is currently being held for a parole violation in addition to vehicle theft,” Glendora Police said in a written statement.
