Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor GLENDORA - The driver of a vehicle parked suspiciously behind Sam's Club was arrested after he fled police on a multi-city chase Saturday morning.
Joseph Milan Kamzik, 37, from Moreno Valley, was arrested after he ended the pursuit at Foothill Church of Glendora, 901 S. Grand Ave. at 5:54 a.m. Kamzik was booked on suspicion of felony evading police, driving under the influence of drugs, possessing unlawful paraphernalia, an outstanding warrant and a parole violation, according to the Glendora Police Department. Police were called to Sam’s Club, 1301 S. Lone Hill Ave., sometime after 4 a.m. on a reported suspicious vehicle parked behind the business, according to Sgt. Ryan Layaye of the Glendora Police Department. “Officers attempted to contact the subject and he immediately fled,” Layaye said. A slow speed pursuit went through surface streets across Glendora, Azusa and Covina. Kamzik allegedly ran red lights, ignored stop signs and drove in opposing lanes, Layaye said. Kamzik was arrested without incident. Kamzik is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail at the Inmate Reception Center in Los Angeles. He is scheduled to appear in Pomona Municipal Court November 20, according to Los Angeles County booking records. Written by AARON CASTREJON | CityWatch Editor GLENDORA - A reckless driver spotted on Glendora Mountain Road refused to stop for officers and led them on a nine-mile chase to the 10 freeway Saturday morning.
An officer spotted the driver on Glendora Mountain Road around 12:14 p.m. and attempted a traffic stop of a white 1992 Honda Civic, but the driver refused to yield, according to Lt. James DeMond of the Glendora Police Department. The driver, Cesar Efran Figueroa Jr., 22, led police on a reckless pursuit on city streets through Glendora and into Azusa where the pursuit entered the westbound 210 freeway, DeMond said. Figueroa also reportedly drove in opposing lanes of traffic while evading officers, according to Lt. Mike Randazzo of the Glendora Police Department. The pursuit entered the south 605 freeway and the driver eventually stopped after 15 minutes and surrendered near the I-10 freeway, DeMond said. Figueroa was booked on suspicion of felony reckless evading, driving on the opposite side of a divided highway and excessive speed, Randazzo said. Figueroa is being held in lieu of $75,000 bail at the Inmate Reception Center in Los Angeles, awaiting a scheduled appearance in the West Covina Courthouse September 18. |
