The driver and two juveniles were accused of committing grand theft at Ulta Beauty, 1229 S. Lone Hill Ave., and at Chili’s, 1371 E. Gladstone St. Police were called at 6:51 p.m., according to Sgt. Shelly Gold of the Glendora Police Department. Both businesses are located in the Glendora Marketplace. Glendora officers on patrol were close by the Marketplace and were able to intercept the driver who refused to comply with a traffic stop and took off. Police decided to end the pursuit due to the driver’s reckless nature, Gold told SGV CityWatch. The driver crashed into as many as four other vehicles at Gladstone Street and Sunflower Avenue around 6:55 p.m., according to a passerby who reached out to SGV CityWatch. Taylor Jorie Diaz, 18, was booked on suspicion of grand theft of money, labor, or property and reckless evading, according to Glendora Police booking records. Diaz is being held in the Glendora police jail I had a scheduled appearance in the west Covina courthouse Friday, May 28, according to Los Angeles county booking records. The driver of a blue minivan sped away from a deputy on westbound Gladstone Street near Lone Hill Avenue February 23. The driver and two passengers ran after crashing on the lawn of a home at Gladstone Street and Valley Center Avenue, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s radio traffic. The incident occurred sometime before 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. A patrol deputy attempted to stop the driver for multiple vehicle code violations, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s San Dimas Station. The suspects may have tried to change their clothing in an attempt to alter their appearance, according to deputies at the scene of the crash. After the suspects ran, a containment was set up and all three suspects were soon found and taken into custody, the San Dimas Sheriff’s Station said. Deputies found what is believed to be stolen property inside the van, items including gardening equipment. All three male suspects were booked on suspicion of various charges, including possession of stolen property. Sgt. Saenz of the San Dimas Sheriff’s Station detective bureau provided names of the arrestees: Daniel Erlander Cortez, 38; Michael Rodriguez, 21; and Miguel Rebolar, 31. All three men are from Pasadena. Cortez posted bond and is scheduled to appear in court April 1. Rodriguez was released on penal code 849(B)(1), citing insufficient/inadmissible evidence, or grounds for arrest. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor GLENDORA - Days after being arrested and booked on suspicion of vehicle theft, hit and run, DUI and resisting arrest, a Covina man allegedly put up some items he stole online. William Nice, 57, was located in West Covina January 16 after police said he stole a truck from a mobile home park in the 400 block of East Route 66. The driver crashed into a passing vehicle as he fled, Glendora Police said. After receiving word of the truck’s location, Glendora Police arrived to a West Covina motel and witnessed a driver attempt to flee the parking lot in the stolen truck. The driver then tried to flee on foot, but was caught after attempting to flee over a wall, Glendora Police said. The truck as well as some of the victim’s stolen tools, found in a nearby car, were recovered. Nice posted $50,000 bail.
Glendora Police detectives learned January 23 that some remaining stolen tools were being posted online for sale. Glendora detectives and assisting officers served a search warrant in a Claremont motel and found Nice inside. some of the tools were located and recovered, Glendora Police said. “Nice was arrested a second time and booked for possession of stolen property. He was later released with a citation. Several of the victim's stolen tools are still outstanding,” Glendora Police said in a written statement. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor GLENDORA - A man who stole food items from a 7-Eleven October 24 was caught after fleeing through Oakdale Memorial Park. Police responded to 7-Eleven, 1410 S. Grand Ave., on a reported robbery around 11:30 p.m. The suspect claimed to have a weapon, but no weapon was seen, according to Lt. Marty Barrett of the Glendora Police Department. The suspect fled into the nearby cemetery, 1401 S. Grand Ave., Barrett said. A containment was set up to find the suspect.
With the help of a helicopter, the suspect was seen hopping over a wall onto Barranca Avenue west of the cemetery. The suspect was arrested without incident, Barrett said. No one was injured during the robbery. Avery Guy Shelden, 40, was taken into custody. He is being held in lieu of $50,000 at the Inmate Reception Center in Los Angeles ahead of a scheduled appearance in West Covina Superior Court October 29. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor GLENDORA - The suspect caught after fleeing police in Azusa is accused of stealing from victims in multiple SoCal cities. Police released the mugshot of Eric Ramirez, 34. He is accused of taking numerous items of property, including purses, backpacks, driver licenses, identification cards, checks, outdoor equipment, two stolen handguns and other miscellaneous items, according to the Glendora Police Department. A theft from a vehicle occurred around 8:30 p.m. near Glendora Mountain Road and Big Dalton Canyon Road. Glendora police tracked some of the stolen property to an Azusa home where some of the property was recovered, Glendora Police said. A search warrant helped detectives uncover a large quantity of other stolen items.
Ramirez was located hiding in residential yard roughly near Angeleno Street and Paramount Street. He fled over numerous walls to avoid captured. Ramirez injured his face right below his right eye. He was soon captured after injuring himself, Glendora Police said. “Detectives have identified property stolen from victims in multiple Southern California cities,” Glendora Police said. Route 66, at 9:21 p.m. and took an undisclosed amount of lottery tickets, according to Sgt. Ryan Layaye of the Glendora Police Department. The suspects were described as two Black men in hooded sweatshirts.
A Shell gas station was hit at 1860 E. Route 66 around 9:55 p.m. The suspects ran in, grabbed tickets and fled on foot in both cases. No weapons were seen and no suspect vehicle description was available, Layaye said. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor GLENDORA - A man behind the wheel of a stolen blue BMW 530e escaped on foot after briefly fleeing pursuing officers Tuesday night. Police located and tried to stop a reported stolen BMW in the area of West Gladstone Street and South Reynolds Way around 7:31 p.m. June 25. The driver fled from police and ditched the stolen car in a residential side street, according to Sgt. Ryan Layaye of the Glendora Police Department. The BMW was reported stolen from Murietta June 24, Layaye said.
Officers found the abandoned car in 400 block of West Ghent Street. A search assisted by a helicopter yielded no suspects. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor GLENDORA - A Baldwin Park woman accused of mail theft and burglary was arrested May 18 after leading police on a brief chase. Jennifer Lopez, 44, from Baldwin Park, was arrested after driving into a cul-de-sac in Azusa where she surrendered to officers. She fled from them when they tried to stop her for reckless driving Saturday afternoon, according to the Glendora Police Department. During a vehicle search of the Toyota Camry Lopez was driving, police found mail from all over Glendora, including large delivered packages. Lopez also apparently almost ran over one of her victims as she fled while being confronted, Glendora Police said. Lopez and an unidentified man were also caught on surveillance camera attempting to burglarize a home in the 300 block of North Glendora Avenue May 18 -- the morning of the pursuit.
The male accomplice remains outstanding. The District Attorney’s Office filed charges against Lopez, including assault with a deadly weapon, felony evading, residential burglary, felony identity theft and narcotics possession. GLENDORA - A victim of package theft wants area residents to be aware of a duo seen stealing from a Glendora home Tuesday morning.
The package theft occurred around 10:30 a.m. April 2 in the area of Jedburgh Street and Valley Center Avenue. About five minutes after the Amazon delivery man left the package on the resident’s door step, the suspects arrived, said the resident who wished to not be named.
The suspects were caught on multiple security cameras as they drove through the neighborhood. The dark-colored SUV stopped in the middle of the street when a package was spotted. The driver backed up and stopped in the wrong direction so the thief could take the package.
Glendora Police was called to take a theft report. The suspects didn’t get an excellent haul, however: unless they wanted bug repellent patches, the resident said. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor GLENDORA - Four people accused of being part of a retail crime ring were taken into custody Tuesday after fleeing police after burglarizing a Kohl’s store of more than $1,500 in merchandise. Officers were called to Kohl’s, 1225 S. Lone Hill Ave., just before 6:30 p.m. on a reported theft in progress. Two suspects carrying a large quantity of merchandise fled into a waiting vehicle, which fled after officers attempted a traffic stop, according to the Glendora Police Department. The suspects fled on surface streets, speeding south on Lone Hill Avenue and east on Arrow Highway with Glendora officers following behind, helicopters from the Pasadena and Pomona Police departments joined the chase.
The pursuit ended in Ontario at a gas station. The driver and passenger were taken into custody, while two other passengers escaped on foot. A search with assistance of Ontario Police helped find the escaping suspects, Glendora Police said. Arrested were: 22-year-old Della Joyner from Colton 18-year-old Chyna Harris from Las Vegas 21-year-old Barnard Saddler from San Bernardino 24-year-old Melvin Odom from Las Vegas All four suspects were booked on suspicion of grand theft, organized retail theft, and conspiracy. Joyner was additionally charged with felony reckless evading and hit-and-run, Glendora Police said. |
