The collision occurred around 5:30 p.m. December 29 near Francisquito Avenue and Willow Avenue. Officers are investigating the possibility that one driver suffered a medical emergency which led to the collision, according to Lt. Keith Shishido of the West Covina Police Department. The collision created a hazard in the intersection, forcing police to briefly block the road to traffic while the road was cleaned, Shishido said. Officers found the victims after arriving to a report of gunfire in the 1100 block of East Larkwood Street around 9:13 p.m., West Covina Police said. A man was critically wounded. A woman received injuries considered not life-threatening, West Covina Police said. “Detectives are currently investigating the incident as a homicide,” West Covina Police said in a written statement. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor WEST COVINA - A short pursuit ended in La Puente Sunday with the driver escaping custody, a West Covina Police lieutenant said.
Police pursued the driver before midnight December 8 after believing he was behind the wheel of a stolen vehicle. The chase ended in the 1000 block of Sandsprings Drive in La Puente. The passenger was detained, according to Lt. Keith Shishido of the West Covina Police Department. A containment search was set up with the help of a helicopter and Baldwin Park Police officers after the passenger made mention of a handgun, but no gun was found. Officers conducted yards searches to find the suspect. The vehicle was later determined to not be stolen, Shishido said. The passenger was eventually released. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor REGION - Sheriff’s deputies and West Covina Police seek the public’s help in finding a young Pasadena man missing for nearly one year. Jonas Elijah Nelson, 19, was last seen January 20, 2019 in the 200 block of East Sacramento Street in Altadena. Sheriff’s detectives received information that Nelson may be in the city of West Covina, the West Covina Police Department announced via social media. Nelson is 6 feet 4 inches tall, weighs 190 pounds, has brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing black sweat pants and an orange hooded sweatshirt with silver reflective accents. He suffers from schizophrenia, is bipolar and suffers from catatonia disorder, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said.
