The suspect is about to surrender, REGION - West Covina police are pursuing a stolen SUV in the Azusa area. The solo occupant is driving around traffic, using the sidewalk and rolling through red lights as the driver evades deputies. The chase reportedly began in the Pico River area. The chase is, at the time of this post, north on Azusa Avenue passing Arrow Highway. Walnut Sheriff’s deputies responded to a home in the 300 block of South Frankfurt Avenue just after 8 p.m. and found the intellectually-disabled man suffering from an unknown medical condition, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. The man, described as being in his 50s, died at the scene. He may have been left inside the vehicle for an unknown duration, the Sheriff’s Information Bureau said. The driver is cooperating with detectives. The shooting took place in West Covina, but Sheriff’s deputies are handling the incident. Deputies responded to Amar Road and Lark Ellen Avenue around 10:45 a.m. regarding a shooting call, according to Sgt. William Kitchin of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station. The victim, only described as a Hispanic man, was taken to a nearby hospital in unknown condition. Detectives do not have a suspect or vehicle description, since the victim is not cooperating, Kitchin said. |
