The passenger of a black SUV exited and pointed a gun at the woman in the 15600 block of Stafford Street around 4 p.m. or 4:30 p.m. December 30. The robbery wasn’t reported to deputies until about an hour later, according to Lt. Long of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station. The gunman is a Black man and is 20 to 22 years old. He wore a blue shirt and jeans. The employee wasn’t seriously injured by the pepper spray during the robbery at the pharmacy located at 21590 E. Valley Blvd., according to Sgt. Matthew Shackelford of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station. The robbery took place just after 3 p.m. The lone suspect, described as a Hispanic man in his 30s, stole various “As Seen on TV” items, according to a Sheriff’s Industry Station crime broadcast. The suspect fled in a truck. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor INDUSTRY – Multiple lanes of the eastbound 60 freeway west of Azusa Avenue continue to be blocked after a big rig overturned Thursday afternoon.
The southbound Azusa Avenue onramp to the east 60 freeway, as well as the eastbound No. 1, 2, 3 and 4 lanes remain closed, according to the California Highway Patrol. A semi hauling a tractor trailer containing belts overturned at the southbound Azusa Avenue onramp around 12:50 p.m. A red Nissan pickup truck was also involved, the CHP said. Technicians with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Arson/Explosives Detail examined the item, determined it was no threat and gave an all-clear at 10:38 a.m., according to Deputy Morgan Arteaga of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau. The object was discovered at the Sheriff’s Industry Station, 150 N. Hudson Ave., some time before 8:30 a.m. Arteaga had yet to be told specifically what the object was. Firefighters were dispatched to the Industry Sheriff’s Station, 150 N. Hudson Ave., at 8:26 a.m. and are awaiting the arrival of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Arson/Explosives Detail, according to Dispatch Supervisor Art Marrujo of the Los Angeles County Fire Department. It is unclear exactly where the item was found or what it may look like. An Industry Sheriff’s Station supervisor was unable to answer calls for information. Firefighters designated the call as a hazmat response. The carjacking occurred just before 11 p.m. The suspect used a black semi-automatic handgun to take the car, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station. Taken was a brown 2008 four-door Nissan Sentra. The car sported a parking sticker on the front windshield, deputies said. The suspect is described as a white man, 40 to 45 years old, 5 feet 8 inches tall and appeared to be homeless. The checkpoint is scheduled to take place in an undisclosed location and end at 11 p.m., according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station. DUI Checkpoints like this one are placed in locations based on collision statistics and frequency of DUI arrests, affording the greatest opportunity for achieving drunk and drugged driving deterrence, Sheriff’s deputies said in a written statement. |
