Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor INDUSTRY - An anonymous tip about an armed student was untrue after deputies swarmed and search William Workman High School Friday afternoon. The tip was received before 12:30 p.m. March 22 through a districtwide app. The tip reported a student possessed a handgun in a backpack, according to Jill Rojas, assistant superintendent for Hacienda La Puente Unified School District. Deputies from the Sheriff’s Industry Station and surrounding stations searched the campus and evacuated some classes, including the library, but determined no weapon was found.
Deputies briefly detained the suspect. The incident is being investigated by the Hacienda La Puente School Police and is being assisted by the Sheriff’s Industry Station. |
