Deputies found the victim, only described as a 45-year-old Hispanic man, laying on the sidewalk and suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper torso in the 100 block of North Azusa Avenue, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Deputies were called at 5 p.m. November 24. They were originally responding to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon and a man armed with a handgun. During the investigation, a bullet was located near Azusa Avenue and Glenloch Avenue north of where the shooting took place. A discarded hooded sweatshirt was also located, but it is unclear if it is tied to the shooting. A suspect remains at-large. The suspect, a man in a hard hat and a mask, fled the scene after shooting another man around 9:35 a.m. The construction site was very active with workers on scene, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau. Coroner investigators have not released the name of the victim yet since positive identification has not been made. The construction site is in the 14700 block of Nelson Avenue. The victim died at the scene, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and was specifically targeted by the suspect, Homicide detectives said. The murder weapon has not been recovered.
