CityWatch Editor INDUSTRY - A man who frequents the Covina and La Puente areas is believed to have sexually assaulted a victim December 10. The assault took the place in the morning hours near Puente Hills Mall, 1600 S. Azusa Ave., and Colima Road. Detectives acquired surveillance video from Foothill Transit that showed the suspect riding a bus in the Covina and La Puente areas, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. The suspect is a white man who is approximately 30 years old. He has black hair, and wore a dark jacket and gray sweat pants. He is possible transient, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. CityWatch Editor CITY OF INDUSTRY - One person in a gray Nissan SUV was killed after colliding with a semi truck on the northbound 605 Freeway at the eastbound 60 Freeway transition road Tuesday. The crash is currently blocking the transition road to the eastbound 60. The collision is currently blocking the No. 3 lane. A light pole is also destroyed and is down across the No. 2 and 3 lanes, according to the California Highway Patrol. The HOV and No. 1 lanes remain open. CityWatch Editor CITY OF INDUSTRY - Five suspects, one of the armed, attempted to rob a victim at the Puente Hills mall. The robbery occurred around 3:30 p.m. August 3. A black pistol was brandished, according to a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s radio broadcast. All suspects were described as Black males. First suspect wore a red and carried a Louis Vuitton handbag. A second suspect wore a tan hooded sweatshirt and black shorts. The third suspect was described as being tall. He wore a blue hooded sweatshirt. The fourth suspect wore all black clothing. The fifth suspect was only described as having dreadlocks and appearing heavyset. All suspects fled towards the AMC theater and out of view. ********** Copyright 2025. CityWatch Editor INDUSTRY - A traffic stop led to a shooting between a deputy and a suspect early Thursday. The shooting was reported around 2 a.m. in the 19500 block of East Walnut Avenue July 17, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. It is unclear how the deputy somehow received minor injuries, but he was taken to a hospital for treatment. The suspect was not struck. The suspect somehow ended up barricading in Valinda where a standoff occurred. The suspect was eventually arrested. The circumstances leading to the traffic stop are not immediately known. CityWatch Editor CITY OF INDUSTRY - A man’s body was found in a business parking lot Sunday. The discovery was made in the 14800 block of Don Julian Road around 11:42 a.m. October 6. The victim, only described as a Latino male adult, was found laying face up and unresponsive He was declared dead at the scene, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. CityWatch Editor LOS ANGELES - The man struck and killed by a public transit bus was identified recently. Chi Wong, a 79-year-old Hacienda Heights man, was identified by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner. He died from multiple blunt force traumatic injuries. Wong’s death was ruled accidental. A Foothill Transit bus was turning out of the Puente Hills Mall parking lot to go northbound on Azusa Avenue from Pepper Brook Way when it struck Wong around 5:42 p.m. September 23. It is not publicly clear if Wong was in a marked crosswalk when he was struck. The driver may have had a green light to turn, according to the California Highway Patrol. CityWatch Editor CITY OF INDUSTRY - A northbound Foothill Transit bus headed for La Habra struck and killed a pedestrian Monday afternoon. The collision occurred on Azusa Avenue at Pepper Brook Way around 5:42 p.m. September 23. Eight passengers were on the bus. Neither they, nor the driver, were injured. The pedestrian, who has yet to be publicly identified, died at the scene. CityWatch Editor INDUSTRY - Deputies detained a person of interest in the murder of a man at an Industry business Monday. Deputies detained the man upon arrival to the business in the 18600 block of Gale Avenue July 15. The victim, an Asian man found with apparent gunshot wounds to the upper torso, was found dead at the scene, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. “The person of interest is a former employee of the business where the victim was employed and working during the time of the incident,” according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department in a written statement. First responders were called to the scene around 8:49 a.m. Anyone with information on this shooting is urged to call the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500. CityWatch Editor UPDATE: 12:32 p.m.: Homicide Detectives have confirmed one male adult died from a gunshot wound in the 18600 block of Gale Avenue. INDUSTRY - Deputies are investigating a reported shooting that took place at a business complex in City of Industry Monday morning. Very little information is available but first responders were sent to the 18600 block of Gale Avenue around 8:49 a.m. Monday, July 15. Firefighters were dispatched to the location for a gunshot victim, but Craig Little of the Los Angeles County Fire Department does not know how many victims were shot or if anyone was transported or died at the scene. Sgt. Miguel Jimenez of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station declined to provide specific details. He did not know yet if Homicide Detectives will be handling the investigation. Francis Gil Cruz, 36, died from blunt force injuries. His death was ruled a suicide. First responders were sent to Cloverleaf Drive under the 605 freeway overpass just after 12 p.m. Tuesday, May 7, according to Los Angeles County Fire Department dispatches. Cruz died at the scene. An image shared by a CityWatch reader showed traffic on Cloverleaf under the 605 freeway blocked by crime scene tape and law enforcement speaking with possible witnesses. |
