Sex Assault Suspect Sought After Allegedly Attacking Victim Near Puente Hills Mall

INDUSTRY - A man who frequents the Covina and La Puente areas is believed to have sexually assaulted a victim December 10.

The assault took the place in the morning hours near Puente Hills Mall, 1600 S. Azusa Ave., and Colima Road.

Detectives acquired surveillance video from Foothill Transit that showed the suspect riding a bus in the Covina and La Puente areas, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

The suspect is a white man who is approximately 30 years old. He has black hair, and wore a dark jacket and gray sweat pants. He is possible transient, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Five Suspects Fail to Take Property at Gunpoint at Puente Hills Mall

CITY OF INDUSTRY - Five suspects, one of the armed, attempted to rob a victim at the Puente Hills mall.

The robbery occurred around 3:30 p.m. August 3. A black pistol was brandished, according to a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s radio broadcast.

All suspects were described as Black males.

First suspect wore a red and carried a Louis Vuitton handbag.

A second suspect wore a tan hooded sweatshirt and black shorts.

The third suspect was described as being tall. He wore a blue hooded sweatshirt.

The fourth suspect wore all black clothing.

The fifth suspect was only described as having dreadlocks and appearing heavyset.

All suspects fled towards the AMC theater and out of view.

Deputy Suffers Minor Injuries During Shooting with Suspect in Industry

INDUSTRY - A traffic stop led to a shooting between a deputy and a suspect early Thursday.

The shooting was reported around 2 a.m. in the 19500 block of East Walnut Avenue July 17, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

It is unclear how the deputy somehow received minor injuries, but he was taken to a hospital for treatment. The suspect was not struck.

The suspect somehow ended up barricading in Valinda where a standoff occurred. The suspect was eventually arrested.

The circumstances leading to the traffic stop are not immediately known.

CITY OF INDUSTRY - A man’s body was found in a business parking lot Sunday.

The discovery was made in the 14800 block of Don Julian Road around 11:42 a.m. October 6. The victim, only described as a Latino male adult, was found laying face up and unresponsive He was declared dead at the scene, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

There were no obvious signs of death.

BREAKING NEWS: Former Employee detained, Accused of Gunning Down Worker at Industry Business

INDUSTRY - Deputies detained a person of interest in the murder of a man at an Industry business Monday.

Deputies detained the man upon arrival to the business in the 18600 block of Gale Avenue July 15. The victim, an Asian man found with apparent gunshot wounds to the upper torso, was found dead at the scene, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

“The person of interest is a former employee of the business where the victim was employed and working during the time of the incident,” according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department in a written statement.

First responders were called to the scene around 8:49 a.m.

Pedestrian Dies After Fall from 605 Freeway in Industry Tuesday

CITY OF INDUSTRY - A pedestrian either jumped, or accidentally fell from the 605 freeway onto a public street Tuesday afternoon.

First responders were sent to Cloverleaf Drive under the 605 freeway overpass just after 12 p.m. Tuesday, May 7, according to Los Angeles County Fire Department dispatches.

The pedestrian died at the scene, according to Sgt. Del Valle of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station.

Del Valle did not know the circumstances that led to the death. No one else was involved.

An image shared by a CityWatch reader showed traffic on Cloverleaf under the 605 freeway blocked by crime scene tape and law enforcement speaking with possible witnesses.

The pedestrian’s identity has not yet been publicly shared.

Medical Examiner Names Teen Who Shot Herself to Death with Deputy’s Gun

LOS ANGELES - The 17-year-old girl who killed herself after reportedly wrestling away a deputy’s gun was named Tuesday.

Johanna Gonzalez died by suicide from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said Gonzalez knocked on the lobby doors to the Sheriff’s Industry Station, 150 N. Hudson Ave., around 7:40 p.m. Sunday, March 24. Deputies greeted her at the doors.

“The juvenile lunged into the lobby and reached for the deputy’s holstered firearm and took possession of it. A struggle ensued between the deputies and juvenile who was armed with the deputy’s firearm. During the struggle, the juvenile suffered from a self-inflicted gunshot wound,” according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department in a written statement.

Gonzalez died at the scene.

Deputies were called to the home of Gonzalez’s foster parent just before 7:30 p.m. in the 300 block of Clintwood Avenue on a family disturbance that same night.

“The juvenile’s foster parent reported that the juvenile was suffering from an apparent mental health crisis. Deputies responded to the scene; however, the juvenile had already left on foot before the deputies arrived,” according to the Sheriff’s Department in a written statement.

The girl traveled one mile to the Industry Station.

No one else was hurt during the shooting.

Teen Dies After Reportedly Shooting Herself with Deputy’s Gun at Industry Sheriff’s Station

INDUSTRY - Homicide detectives are determining how a teen was able to disarm a deputy and use the weapon to kill herself Sunday night.

The incident unfolded in the lobby of the industry, sheriffs station, 150 N. Hudson Ave., around 7:40 p.m. March 24.

“The female Hispanic was knocking on the front door lobby. When deputies approached the front door lobby they came in contact with the female Hispanic. A altercation ensued. It is alleged that the female reached for the deputy’s , retrieved the firearm from the deputy’s holster. During the altercation, it is alleged the female suffered from a self-inflicted gunshot wound with what we believe to be the deputy’s firearm,” according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

The victim may be tied to a call earlier in the day to a family disturbance.

The Industry Station lobby is currently closed to visitors. All business lines and 9-1-1 lines are still operational, according to the Industry Sheriff’s Station.

Cosmetic Culprit: Detectives Seek Ulta Makeup Thief Accused of $2,000 Heist

INDUSTRY - Surveillance cameras snapped video of a masked woman, accused of taking $2000 worth of beauty products from Ulta January 26.

The woman entered the store, 2160 Valley Blvd, around 1:50 p.m., put the merchandise in a tote and left without paying, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station.

The suspect is described as Latino and stands 5 feet 3 inches to 5 feet 9 inches tall. She wore blue jean pants, a tan coat, a pink scarf, blue face mask and brown tote bag.

INDUSTRY - Deputies and the Special Enforcement Bureau are attempting to get a man who is armed with a handgun to surrender from a car wash Monday morning.

The man is barricaded inside the car wash on the south west corner of Hacienda Boulevard and Valley Boulevard The incident began around 7:20 a.m. Monday, September 6 according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station.
