The man was detained just after midnight at the Industry Sheriff’s Station, 150 Hudson Ave., June 24. He was seen on surveillance camera, pacing back and forth. The agitated man was contacted by deputies and said he wanted to die. A replica gun was found inside a trash can nearby, said Sgt. Henry Saenz of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station. The man was detained without incident, Saenz said. “Through quick thinking and training deputies prevented a “suicide by cop” in our Station lobby. The subject was safely detained and is now receiving mental care,” said Cpt. Tim Murakami of the Sheriff’s Industry Station. The robbery occurred at the T-Mobile, 17501 Colima Rd. around 6:05 p.m. The suspects fled in a black, newer-model Mercedes two-door vehicle, which was seen being driven westbound Colima Road towards Azusa Avenue. The first suspect is a Black man in his mid-20s, is 6 feet 4 inches tall, has a medium build and wore grey sweatpants and blue and red baseball hat. The second suspect is a Black man in his mid-20s, 5 feet 6 inches tall and has a slim build. His hair was in dreadlocks, deputies said. The suspect, a man in a hard hat and a mask, fled the scene after shooting another man around 9:35 a.m. The construction site was very active with workers on scene, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau. Coroner investigators have not released the name of the victim yet since positive identification has not been made. The construction site is in the 14700 block of Nelson Avenue. The victim died at the scene, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and was specifically targeted by the suspect, Homicide detectives said. The murder weapon has not been recovered. Anyone with information on the suspect is urged to call the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500. The shooting occurred around 9:35 a.m. Deputies responding to the area found the victim suffering from at least one gunshot wound. It is unclear if the suspect is still outstanding. The carjacking occurred in the area of Azusa Avenue and Temple Avenue around 12:29 p.m. June 17. The suspect approached the victim, pretended to have a weapon and took the car, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station. About 30 minutes later, the vehicle was located parked near Rowland and Glendora Avenue in La Puente, Sheriff’s deputies said. The suspect fled deputies who located the vehicle, forcing the deputies to set a containment search aided by a helicopter, according to Sheriff's radio traffic. At least one eyewitness reported seeing a man fleeing through an apartment complex. The suspect was only described as a Hispanic man. Written by AARON CASTREJON | CityWatch Editor INDUSTRY - Three men fled after attempting to rob a woman by shocking her with a stun gun in the Sears parking lot at Puente Hills Mall Saturday.
The crime was reported just before 5 p.m. at Puente Hills Mall, 1600 S. Azusa Ave. Three men pulled up next to the victim, who was seated in her car. A passenger exited and began shocking the victim and demanded her property, according to a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station crime broadcast. All three men were described as Hispanic 18-21 years old. One suspect wore a dark hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans and was described as thin. The suspects fled in a newer-model Honda Accord or Civic displaying blue paper plates. The car was seen fleeing west through the parking lot towards the 60 freeway. The extent of injuries to the woman were not described. |
