Written by AARON CASTREJON | CityWatch Editor INDUSTRY - A male Hispanic was placed on a 72-hour mental evaluation after walking to the Sheriff’s Station, stating he wanted to die by the hands of Sheriff’s deputies.
The man was detained just after midnight at the Industry Sheriff’s Station, 150 Hudson Ave., June 24. He was seen on surveillance camera, pacing back and forth. The agitated man was contacted by deputies and said he wanted to die. A replica gun was found inside a trash can nearby, said Sgt. Henry Saenz of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station. The man was detained without incident, Saenz said. “Through quick thinking and training deputies prevented a “suicide by cop” in our Station lobby. The subject was safely detained and is now receiving mental care,” said Cpt. Tim Murakami of the Sheriff’s Industry Station. |
