Johanna Gonzalez died by suicide from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said Gonzalez knocked on the lobby doors to the Sheriff’s Industry Station, 150 N. Hudson Ave., around 7:40 p.m. Sunday, March 24. Deputies greeted her at the doors. “The juvenile lunged into the lobby and reached for the deputy’s holstered firearm and took possession of it. A struggle ensued between the deputies and juvenile who was armed with the deputy’s firearm. During the struggle, the juvenile suffered from a self-inflicted gunshot wound,” according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department in a written statement. Gonzalez died at the scene. Deputies were called to the home of Gonzalez’s foster parent just before 7:30 p.m. in the 300 block of Clintwood Avenue on a family disturbance that same night. “The juvenile’s foster parent reported that the juvenile was suffering from an apparent mental health crisis. Deputies responded to the scene; however, the juvenile had already left on foot before the deputies arrived,” according to the Sheriff’s Department in a written statement. The girl traveled one mile to the Industry Station. No one else was hurt during the shooting. When deputies approached the front door lobby they came in contact with the female Hispanic. A altercation ensued. It is alleged that the female reached for the deputy’s , retrieved the firearm from the deputy’s holster. During the altercation, it is alleged the female suffered from a self-inflicted gunshot wound with what we believe to be the deputy’s firearm,” according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. The victim may be tied to a call earlier in the day to a family disturbance. The Industry Station lobby is currently closed to visitors. All business lines and 9-1-1 lines are still operational, according to the Industry Sheriff’s Station. Deputies responded to the mall, 1600 S. Azusa Ave., around 11:30 p.m. The man who was stabbed was taken to a hospital where he later died, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. The victim, a white man age 30 to 35 years old, was found on a sidewalk outside the mall. A suspect was later arrested and a knife was recovered at the scene, according to the Sheriff’s Department. He was declared dead at the scene, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Investigators initially said a suspect is unknown. The child was identified as 8-year-old Phillip Rosas, a Covina resident, according to Sarah Ardalani, public information officer with the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. An exam is scheduled to determine exact cause of death. The alleged drunk driver, described as a 30-year-old man, remains hospitalized with a leg injury, according to Sgt. Hernandez of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station. First responders were called to the scene just after 1 a.m. Sunday. The impact forced one of the vehicles up onto a sidewalk. A hydrant was sheared off in the crash. Rosas was accompanied by three others, including a 12-year-old, inside the vehicle struck by the alleged drunk driver. The suspected drunk driver was alone in the vehicle he drove. The charges he would be booked on once medically cleared are still under investigation, Hernandez told SGV CityWatch. The unidentified pedestrian died at the scene. A Sig Alert was issued around 8:06 p.m. for the No. 4 lane. Deputies and Los Angeles County Firefighters were called to the 1600 block of South Azusa Avenue around 9:40 p.m. March 13. The victim, only described as a female adult, was hospitalized where she was later pronounced dead, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. Los Angeles County fire fighters were dispatched at 9:40 p.m. They were on scene six minutes later and transported the victim at 9:54 p.m., according to the Los Angeles County fire department. “After a preliminary investigation was conducted, it was determined the pedestrian death was not a homicide. The additional investigation will be conducted by LASD Traffic Services Detail,” according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau in a written statement. Deputies found the victim, only described as a 45-year-old Hispanic man, laying on the sidewalk and suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper torso in the 100 block of North Azusa Avenue, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Deputies were called at 5 p.m. November 24. They were originally responding to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon and a man armed with a handgun. During the investigation, a bullet was located near Azusa Avenue and Glenloch Avenue north of where the shooting took place. A discarded hooded sweatshirt was also located, but it is unclear if it is tied to the shooting. A suspect remains at-large. The collision occurred as a driver was exiting the Chevron gas station, 221 S. Hacienda Blvd., around 7:51 p.m. September 23. The southbound motorcyclist collided with the front end of the vehicle, according to Lt. David Petrocelli of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station. The rider died at Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center, Petrocelli told SGV CityWatch. The motorcycle rider has yet to be identified publicly. Next of kin has not been notified. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. The crash was reported at 6:17 a.m. on the west 60 freeway east of Fairway Drive, according to the California Highway Patrol. Possibly one other vehicle was involved in the crash that occurred that is affecting the HOV, No. 1 and 2 lanes. A Sig Alert affected the mentioned lanes, but has since been cancelled, the California Highway Patrol said. |
