Officers found the woman after responding to a call of a man seen dragging a woman towards some dumpsters in the 3300 block of Maxson Road February 4 just before 10:30 a.m. The cause of death is unknown. Homicide detectives with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau are assisting El Monte Police with the investigation. “Several witnesses are being questioned and one possible suspect is being detained for questioning,” according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. The unidentified man was pronounced dead at the scene in the 4400 block of Baldwin Avenue. Although a Sheriff’s press release listed the time of the reported stabbing as 7 a.m., firefighters were called by deputies at 7:20 a.m. to Baldwin Avenue between Lower Azusa Road and Gidley Street for a cardiac arrest victim. Firefighters arrived on scene and declared the victim dead on arrival six minutes later, according to Austin Bennett of the Los Angeles County Fire Department. The Sheriff’s Department has yet to provide more details regarding the stabbing death.

The shooting took place around 2:45 p.m. at 3501 Santa Anita Ave. El Monte officers responding to a call of a man shooting a gun encountered a suspect. During a foot pursuit, the suspect withdrew a weapon and officers opened fire. The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. A gun was recovered at the scene. Both upper and lower platforms are closed, according to the Los Angeles Metropolitan Transportation Authority. A fuel tank on the plane was leaking. Los Angeles County Firefighters are on scene helping to supply foam. Crews from the airport are also working to prevent a fire, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. The crash was reported around 11:13 a.m. August 31 close to Lower Azusa Road. Ambulances have been called for both the plane’s occupants. Firefighters plan on transporting them to an area hospital. The plane, a fixed-wing, multi-engine Cessna 510 is registered to Star Jet, LLC with an address in San Marino, according to the Federal Aviation Administration. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor EL MONTE - An small aircraft landed in the Rio Honda Wash, firefighters reported Thursday afternoon. The plane hit the Rio Hondo Wash just north of San Gabriel Valley Airport, 4233 N. Santa Anita Avenue around 5:19 p.m. The plane landed in roughly an inch of water. The pilot was spotted sitting on a wing and was airlifted by a Sheriff’s helicopter, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
Air traffic controllers advised LA County Fire of a plane down north of the airport. The plane and pilot were located in the wash near West Hondo Parkway. It is unclear why the pilot landed in the Rio Hondo Wash. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor EL MONTE - Service has been disrupted after an eastbound train struck and killed a pedestrian, a Los Angeles County Fire Department Dispatcher said.
The collision was reported at 3:37 p.m. June 18. The train struck a pedestrian near Valley Boulevard and Johnson Avenue, according to Dispatch Supervisor Ed Pickett with the Los Angeles County Fire Department. Riders were en route to Downtown San Bernardino on Metrolink Line 314 when the collision occurred. The tracks between El Monte and Baldwin Park are closed, according to Metrolink. Officers responded to 7-Eleven, 10008 Valley Blvd., at 10:17 p.m. April 26 and found Rosas dead of multiple gunshot wounds. He died in the parking lot, according to Lt. Chris Cano of the El Monte Police Department. Rosas reportedly was trying to break up a fight when he was shot twice. The fire was knocked down in the 10400 block of Valley Boulevard at 1:50 p.m. The fire, dispatched to firefighters at 1:33 p.m., threatened at least one other mobile home, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
