Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor GLENDORA - Two men and one woman are facing residential burglary charges after fleeing from officers and crashing during their escape Wednesday afternoon.
Officers responded to a report of a home burglary in progress in the 100 block of North Catherine Park Drive just before 3 p.m. Witnesses were able to provide a suspect vehicle description. Officers found the vehicle and attempted to stop the driver, according to Lt. Michael Henderson of the Glendora Police Department. The driver failed to stop and attempted to elude officers. The driver reportedly went through a red light at Glendora Avenue and Route 66 where the suspect broadsided an SUV, which turned over. Two other vehicles were struck during the crash, Henderson told SGV CityWatch. The two male suspects were able to escape on foot and left their female compatriot behind. With the help of a Pasadena Police helicopter and deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s San Dimas Station, the two suspects were taken into custody in a rear yard in the 600 block of South Minnesota Avenue, Henderson told SGV CityWatch. A driver in one of the vehicles struck was hospitalized. Henderson wasn’t sure if any property was successfully taken from the home. Booking information for the suspects is still unavailable. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor GLENDORA – Regional traffic collision investigators are determining what led to a crash between a motorcycle and SUV that killed a Claremont man October 4. Luke Pruitt, a 19-year-old Claremont resident, was the motorcyclist who died at the crash scene at Grand Avenue and Mauna Loa Avenue, according to Sarah Ardalani, public information officer with the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. Pruitt, a Claremont High School graduate, is listed as a defensive lineman with the Citrus College football team and was playing in his sophomore year with the community college. Multiple 9-1-1 calls were made about the injury crash, which occurred around 11:23 a.m. Paramedics performed life-saving measures on Pruitt, according to Sgt. Michael Henderson of the Glendora Police Department. Pruitt was in his second season playing with the Owls and one of the Owls' team captains, According to a statement from the Citrus College Athletics program. "Luke was a defining presence for our program," according to Citrus College Head Football Coach Brandon Hayashi in a written statement. "He was a leader on and off the field, always greeting everyone with a big smile. We are devastated by this loss." Traffic collision investigators from the La Verne and Azusa Police departments assisted Glendora detectives with the investigation, Henderson told SGV CityWatch. Joseph Castle, 44, was identified by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. He died of multiple gunshot wounds. The manner of death was homicide. Officers responded to 600 block of West Bridwell Street around 8:10 a.m. to numerous calls of a shooting, according to the Glendora Police Department. One victim, Castle, was found shot and still seated in a vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau. Arrow High School, 1505 S. Sunflower Ave., was briefly locked down as a precaution. Officers responded to the school and arrested the unnamed student on suspicion of criminal threats, according to the Glendora Police Department. Officers responded to 600 block of West Bridwell Street around 8:10 a.m. One victim was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau. A description of the victim was not provided. Investigators stated a male adult is the suspect. Juan Antonio Armenta, 45, was spotted in the 1000 block of East Route 66 September 7. He was followed as he drove into a nearby neighborhood where he shut off his headlights. A vehicle search during a traffic stop revealed a treasure trove of items. “The vehicle was searched and five cut catalytic converters, an angle grinder and drug paraphernalia were located,” according to the Glendora Police Department in a written statement. Armenta was booked on suspicion of grand theft, possession of burglary tools, possession of drug paraphernalia and for an outstanding arrest warrant. He is being held in lieu of $30,000 bail ahead of a scheduled appearance in the West Covina Courthouse Friday, September 9, according to Los Angeles County booking records. The collision was dispatched to first responders around 11:08 p.m. at Route 66 and Compromise Line Road July 6. The driver was taken to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center in stable condition, according to Sgt. Matt Fenner of the Glendora Police Department. Fenner did not immediately know if alcohol, drugs, or distracted driving played a role in the crash. The victim was treated for his injuries and was released from the hospital, according to Detective Sergeant Ryan Layaye of the Glendora Police Department.
GLENDORA - A suspect accused of shooting a man inside a supermarket Monday was arrested in Pomona, the Glendora Police Department announced. Larry Ronnie Bravo, 25, was found in Pomona at Noon June 21 and taken into custody, according to the Glendora Police Department. The shooting was not random and stemmed from a likely ongoing domestic issue. Bravo shot his victim inside Vons, 435 W. Foothill Blvd., according to the Glendora Police Department. First responders were called to the supermarket around 8:59 p.m. Police officers and Los Angeles County firefighters treated the victim and he was transported to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center. Firefighters were dispatched to a reported gunshot victim in the area of Grand Avenue and Foothill Boulevard at 9 p.m. Monday, June 20. One patient was transported. The victim’s condition was not publicly known, according to Dispatch Supervisor Jeremy Stafford of the Los Angeles County Fire Department. Users of the Ring app reported a shooting at or near Vons, 435 W. Foothill Blvd. A Glendora resident who was out for an evening walk two streets away from the Vons heard at least two gunshots soon followed by the wailing of police sirens. “We were in the parking lot shortly after the cops arrived on scene and the fire trucks were there as well. The fire trucks were blocking the views of the entrance. Cops were hustling around for supplies from trunks,” according to the resident who asked her name not be used. “The scene was VERY active and we chose to get out for safety reasons as cops were just rushing in and it didn’t seem like it was a contained scene yet,” according to the resident. Fire trucks had already left the scene and crime scene tape was set up outside the store when the resident returned 20 to 30 minutes later. Employees were standing at the front entrance along with other officers. Other officers appear to be searching at least one vehicle, according to the resident. It is unclear if anyone is in custody. Kevin Fernandez, 27, and Ahmad Ibrahim, 29, were booked at the Glendora jail. Fernandez, identified as a Mongols Outlaw Motorcycle Gang member, was booked on suspicion of aggravated mayhem and three counts of assault with a deadly weapon causing great bodily injury. Ibrahim was booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and being a felony accessory after the fact, according to the Glendora Police Department. A stabbing was reported to police at Britestar Tavern, 731 W. Route 66, just before 12:30 a.m. May 22. One person was severely wounded. The suspects fled before officers arrived, according to the Glendora Police Department. Shortly after the Glendora stabbing, two suspects fled the scene of a stabbing at Elvie’s Inn, 610 Shopper’s Ln., in Covina. After Fernandez and Ibrahim were identified, Glendora detectives, assisted by Covina Police and Azusa Police detectives, located the duo and took them into custody. Ibrahim posted bond. Fernandez is being held at the Men’s Central Jail in Los Angeles in lieu of more than $1.1 million bail ahead of scheduled appearance in the West Covina Courthouse July 1. |
