The suspect attempted to rob a CVS in La Puente and possibly a Shell gas station in Hacienda Heights while armed with what is described as an assault rifle, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. The suspect attempted a robbery at a CVS, 861 N. Hacienda Blvd., in La Puente. He fled in a black Honda Accord. Deputies located the suspect at a Shell gas Station five minutes later around 1:08 a.m. “As the deputies pulled up to the suspect in their patrol car, the suspect raised his rifle and said, ‘get some,’ at which point a deputy involved shooting occurred,” according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. The suspect fled onto the west 60 freeway at high speed, only to crash while exiting onto Crossroads Parkway. A second shooting occurred when the suspect slung his assault rifle towards the front of his chest, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. The suspect was struck several times. He was hospitalized and his condition has still not been disclosed. |
